Beltane: A Time to Celebrate New Life

Beltane is the time of year when we celebrate new life in all its forms. For many, crops are planted and animals bred. As Pagans we honor the sacred marriage of the God and Goddess, and the consummation of that marriage, which we believe symbolically fertilizes our crops, our animals, and ourselves. It is also a time of beginnings, the beginnings of many new projects. As members of HVPN our elected officers start their term at Beltane. For some of those officers it may be a first time in office and a start of their own projects, for others it is a time to renew and continue projects already begun. To all the new officers I say Congratulations, Good Luck, and Let’s take HVPN to new heights. This year we start down a long road in search of group identity and independence. Our first major step was taken when we found a new meeting space that we can call ours. It is ours because we will pay for it. It is not donated or borrowed. We have earned it! Continuing this trend is up to all of you.

There has been some talk about a quarterly Pagan magazine being published and a smaller monthly newsletter which will cater to just members. In this way we can share what we know with others who are not members and keep our business to ourselves. A quarterly publication would be an awesome networking tool. A Pagan publication could be put together by HVPN members to share what we know and as an outlet for the artistic talents most of you have. These talents may include poetry writing; art, instruction, graphic design, ritual design or anything else we may see fit to put in it. Beltane as a time of beginnings would be a great time to start on this endeavor.  If you’d like to help with this, contact the new chairpeople of the Communications Committee (Dee, Allan, and Randy Simpson).

Our HVPN Member Directory should be completed within two months of Beltane. For those of you who have waited patiently for it, thank you. For those of you who wish not to be in it that’s fine too. For those of us who will be creating it, Godspeed,  for it has taken too long.

In closing, let us all as members of HVPN work together and get some of these major projects off the ground this Beltane season. If we work hard and all take a small part we can see the fruits of the seeds we plant by the first harvest, Lugnassadh.

Thank You,
