Echo's Page
Echo is an 18 month old red lored amazon.  He is a DNA sexed male and I got him from a friend who breeds amazons.  So far, Echo doesn't have as much yellow on his cheeks as his mama and papa (you can see their photo below).  But he's starting to get a little yellow under his eyes lately, so I'm not sure what he'll look like when he's mature.  I suspect his parents may have some Salvins or lilac crown amazon relatives in their genetics.  Echo started talking at about 3 months old and he likes to whistle as well.  His talking voice is rather high and not as clear as an African Grey, but is definitely understandable.  He calls me mommy and has learned to say "Where'd you go?!" whenever I leave the room.  He also sneezes (like me!) and says too many other phrases to list here.  Like most amazons, Echo loves music, and especially loves to snuggle in the evenings while we listen to soft classical music.  Sometimes I can hardly pry him off of me to put him to bed at night!  Calypso, my conure, is Echo's favorite of my other birds because she will preen his head feathers for him.
These are Echo's parents - Mama in the nestbox opening, and papa on the perch.
Here is Echo just hanging around!
