"The first cemetery of Assumption Church was located near the church in Augsburg Township, Section 35, about 4 miles northwest of the present church.  The church records were destroyed in the early parish fires, therefore, we have no record of the bodies interred in this cemetery.  According to the courthouse records, many infants, children, and several adults died during this period (1882-1895), and it is presumed that they were buried in this cemetery.  Most of these graves were marked with wooden crosses, which have deteriorated over the years.
The only marked grave is that of Pauline (Kitowski) Kurowski, wife of Frank Kurowski, Sr., who passed away in 1886.  Her grave is marked with a concrete tombstone [cross] which was erected by her husband [in the center of the cemetery].
Following is a list of deaths which took place in the early days of the Assumption Parish, according to Marshall County Courthouse records"
