So, the toll of civilians killed in Iraq since the illegal invasion initiated by the US and Britain approaches 700,000. That number tops the estimated figure achieved by Hulagu Khan, grandson of Genghiz, in the sack of Baghdad of 1258 AD. Hulagu, like his modern successors, took great pride in the deaths of the innocents, having their severed heads piled into a macabre mountain as a warning to  others who might be tempted to resist the Mongol horde. Now there's a thought for Messrs Bush and Blair!
