The Protestant Church, Feudingen. This church was built in the 13th century, ca.1250. It is a typical "suedwestfaelische Wandfeiler-Hallenkirche", (typifies the kind of churches in the region of Southern-Westfalia in that time). The style originated in southern France. Typical are the six inner pillars and another six outer pillars serving as wallpillars. The vault is composed of twelve arches.
Among the places in the region where such type of church could be seen are: Netphen, Raumland, Breidenstein (all three are protestant churches), and Winterberg (a catholic church). The church in Feudingen is considered a "poor" one. In Soest,(and also in southern France), one could see a rich version of this church.
Feudingen is a very old village. The first record was from 1218. On record was a Pastor named Eginolf. At this time, Feudingen was the Church Center of the whole area of "Oberlahntal" (the upper-Lahn-valley). In 1555, Feudingen and the whole province of Wittgenstein became entirely Protestant. But after the second worldwar, a catholic church was established in this small town.
Today, in Feudingen, there live about two thousand six hundred inhabitants.
