The Mosin Nagant Rifle

Romanian Moisin-Nagant M-44 carbine, made by Izhevsk dated 1954

The Mosin Nagant was the last bolt action rifle produced for the Red Army. It is chambered in 7.62x54 mm and has been manufactured in Russia, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Finland, and China. It was manufactured in 2 variants, the M91/30 for use by the Infantry, and the M44 carbine, for use by engineers, tankcrews, and anyone who needed a rifle and wasn't on the front lines. Millions were produced from 1891 to the mid 1950s. They are commonly available at your nearest gunshop or gunshow, or online. They are fairly accurate and reliable.

Where to buy a Mosin Nagant

and what prices to pay

There are many sites to buy a Mosin, but my favorite is www.gunsamerica.com.

On Gunsamerica, expect to pay $100.00-$200.00 for a Russian Mosin, $65.00-$100.00 for a Polish, Hungarian, Finnish, or Romanian rifle. Chinese Nagants are a bit more pricey, expect to pay about $400.00. Sniper rifles are much more expensive, from around $800.00-$2500.00.
