| The 1907 carbine | ||||||||
| The 1907 carbine was not the first Russian carbine. A Gendarmerie (Border Guard) carbine with a attached bayonet was designed and put into production. If one should come across one of these they are worth thousands of dollars, as only 11 are known to be in existence. After the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05 the Czar ordered a carbine be manufactured for speciaized troops. The 1907 carbine was the predecesor to the M38, only minor differences in manufacrure, stock and handguard differneces, and obviuosly reciever markings distinguish the 1907 from the M38. |
