I went and watched "The Passion" I don't go to the theater very often. It has to be a great movie before I will go and sit for two hours. But this was not just any ordinary movie. This was the story of my hero starring JESUS CHRIST!
Today, far to often the title hero is given to just about anyone. I know of only one true hero. It took a hero to suffer such a horrible death of crucifixion. The Passion made me realize something that I have never noticed before. There was as much suffering before the cross than after.
Oh, what a SAVIOR that would allow himself to be tortured, crowned with thorns, ridiculed, beaten, scourged, cursed, spit upon, smacked, whipped, cut, mocked, laughed at and ultimately nailed to a piece of wood with three sharp spikes. Watching his mother and friends witnessing his death right before their very eyes.
The SON of GOD doing something for me and you that no one had ever done and something that no one could ever do. He died for our sins. His death would mean a chance for us to accept Him in faith and have eternal life. (John 3:16)
The movie starts with JESUS in the garden praying. It ends with his death, burial and resurrection. It shows the sufferings that CHRIST went through so that God's plan would be fulfilled. A plan when finished that would allow a sinner an opportunity to be saved.
After watching The Passion I have a new definition for Hero. JESUS CHRIST who is not only my Hero but my LORD and SAVIOR.
