I talked to a man the other day.  He was near seventy years old.  He told me that he quit going to church years ago because of what one of the deacons of the Church had done.

He went on to say that the deacon had really hurt him and several others.  He then told me his story.  After hearing him explain his side. I responded by asking the man, "Has Jesus ever let you down."  He paused and said, "No"

Such a nice man.  It's a shame that he gave up Jesus because of a man.  So many people today are using the excuse, "I don't want to go to church there, Because there are to many hypocrites." or " I don't like that preacher."

Preachers have a great responsibility.   The Church does too.  Churches need to really pray when seeking leaders of the Church.

The Bible gives us a list of qualifications to use when deciding on the leaders of the Church.  Sad to say the Church overlooks this list and sometimes Satan uses his man to slip through the cracks.  It's time we start... "Standing on the Promises of God"

Below is the qualifications that it takes to be a pastor according to The Living Bible.

               I Timothy Chapter 3:1-7

It is a true saying that if a man wants to be a pastor he has a good ambition.  For a pastor must be a good man whose life cannot be spoken against.  He must have only one wife, and must be hard working and thoughtful, orderly, and full of good deeds.

He must enjoy having guests in his home, and must be a good Bible teacher.  He must not be a drinker or quarrelsome,  but he must be gentle and kind, and not be one who loves money.

He must have a well-behaved family, with children who obey quickly and quietly.  For if a man can't make his own little family behave, how can he help the whole church?

The pastor must not be a new Christian,  because he might be proud of being chosen so soon, and pride comes before a fall.  (Satans downfall is an example.)  Also he must be well spoken of by people outside the church - those who aren't Christians - so that Satan can't trap him with many accusations, and leave him without freedom to lead his flock.

The Bible says that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed ?  and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not
heard ? and how shall they hear without a preacher ? And how shall they preach except they be sent ?..."   (Romans 10:13-15)
