Analysis of the Relationship Between Some Bio-mechanical Variables of the Free Throw in Basketball

  The study consists of five chapters:

The first chapter include the introduction and the importance of the thesis and reviewing the development in sports and the role of the sport sciences to develop and enhance the performance and conduct of all the sport activities and especially the science of Bio-mechanic through scientific research. The importance of thesis has been through adopting the Bio-mechanic analysis to study and important basketball skill, which is the free throw, to observe it from the mechanical aspect and clarity the relationship between it Bio-mechanical variables and the it's participation ration in the aiming accuracy.

The problem of the study these in the lack of the studies and research dealing with the aiming accuracy and the free throw, and if it a viable but ignored the analysis of the direct shoot only.

The aims of the study:          

       1. Investigating the values of the most important Bio-mechanical variables in the skill performance of the free throw in basketball.

       2. Investigating the most important Bio-mechanical relationships between the player performance variables and the ball variables in the free throw skill in basketball.

      3. Investigating the participation ratios of the most important
Bio-mechanical variables in the aiming accuracy of the free throw in Basketball.

Hypothesis of the study:

       1.There is connection relationship with a statistical significant between the most important Bio-mechanical variables of the skill performance in the free throw in basketball.

        2. There are difference in the participation ratios of the most important Bio-mechanical variables of the aiming accuracy in the free throw in basketball.

The fields of the study:

         1. The human field: elite players of Iraqi clubs of Basketball for the season 2004.

         2.The site field: ALSHA'AB sport stadium in Baghdad.

         3. The time field: The period from 1/3/2004 till 30/5/2004.

The pervious and theoretical studies included a number of subject that are related to the study .the topics that are discussed are:

The bio-mechanical Analysis, shooting, free throw, The bio-mechanical And technical basis of the free throw and the accuracy shooting .in addition to reviewing two previous studies.

And the researcher delt with using the descriptive approach of the connection studies, and he describe the sample of the study and it's ratio from the original society in addition to dealing with the informing experiment and the video filming of the study sample and the filed experiment procedures and also describing the analysis mechanism of the computer and the program and the way to extract the study variables.

The result, were analyzed using the computer after Transferring experiment from the video- tape to the computer and to a (C.D) through using (Auto cad ver.14) and obtaining the values of the Bio-mechanical variables and statically processing the data using the calculation medium and the gauge deviation and the deviation factor and analysis of the liner and multiple deviation by the (stepwise) method.

Conclusions:

The researcher concluded the following:

      1.The ball speed movement variable achieved the strongest positive connection relationship with the ball transferring energy variable.

      2.The horizontal variable of the ball center from the start of the ring achieved the weakest positive connection relationship with the torso bent variable with the horizontal line at the time of aiming.

       3.Two variables have achieved a participation ratio in the aiming accuracy with in immaterial effect, they are: 

         -   The ball interning angle variable.

         -   The torso bent angle variable to the horizontal line at the time of shoot.

Recommendation:

       1. Emphasizing on not to over bend the Knee joints and the forward torso bent in the preparing stage to increase the gravity force on the body.

        2.Using the generated pushing force fully by working depending on the smallest angle principle by straightening all body joints in an harmonical timing.

       3. The importance of keeping both the shoulder and elbow joints at (90°) angle in the preparing stage, because this angle is very important to achieve high success ratio in the accuracy of shooting.
