"Shadow of the Beast King."
NOTE: The narrator says something at the beginning of his review that I missed, but it's only one sentence, and just the narrator recap, so it's not a big deal.
NOTE: When the Tamers are biomerged, their speech is transcribed differently. If both Digimon and kid are talking simultaneously, then the merged form name, (Gallantmon, MegaGargomon, Sakuyamon, or Justimon,) will be written. If only Guilmon, Takato, Terriermon, Henry, Renamon, Rika, Cyberdramon, or Ryo is speaking, their names will be written. And finally, if the kid himself is being shown inside the Digimon, (colored/numbered matrix background, kid is nude,) there will be an [inner] notation by their name. Get it? Got it? Good. ;)
NOTE: Just a stupid fun fact�this episode ALMOST made me cry, (my eyes were all full, you know,) and is one of my favorites�YES, I almost cried, it's SAD, okay?! Sheesh, I'm sure you cry during Seventh Heaven, reader!
[Flashes of previous episode are recapped as he speaks.]
Narrator: �Jeri's dad rushed out to face the big red blob, and make it give his daughter back! That didn't go so well. The tamers biomerged and tried a more forceful approach. But that didn't work either! Just when all seemed lost, the Monster Makers completed the finishing touches on the Ark! Shibumi used a blue card to bring Grani into the real world, but it took Gallantmon to bring him to life! He climbed aboard his trusty steed, and the two of them rode off into battle!
[COMMENCE DIGIMON TAMERS THEME SONG]
[Episode title comes up. "Shadow of the Beast King," as show starts, along with titles for Executive Producer, Producer, and English Version Writer.]
Tally: I don't believe it! The D-Reaper's insatiable! It's taken over most of the city, the freeways, even our communication systems! How do we know that we're not going to be next?
[Flashes of the city are shown, engulfed in red D-Reaper goo, in split-screen we see all sorts of angles of the mass, eventually pulling back to an overhead view. In Monster Makers HQ we see Tally, looking at a computer monitor with Janyu.]
Janyu: We don't. [He turns to face HQ. There are dozens of agents, all at computers.] So don't get too attached to this place. We might have to leave, *sigh*, in a hurry.
[Takato's parents, in lounge chairs, glance at each other, worried. Takato, just behind them, is focusing on something else.]
Takato: [thinking] What about Jeri? She's still out there somewhere�and I'm not leaving until I find her!
[Pan out the window to the red blob in the sky, the Kernel Sphere, between two tall towers. Inside the Kernel Sphere is a clear bubble, the Kernel of Consciousness, where Jeri sits, dazed, arms and knees, with Calumon.]
Calumon: URRRAAAAGH! Beelzemon, WAKE UUUUP! We're trapped! And the D-Reaper's gotcha in an octopus-thingy! THIS IS NOT A GOOD TIME TO NAAAP!
[Beelzemon is not in the bubble, but strapped by large red cable "octopus-thingies" to the inner edge of the Kernel Sphere, unconscious.]
[Scene Change to HQ Hangar, where Grani is docked below a BIG skylight, Daisy and Riley at a laptop near his base.]
Overhead Computer: [very flat] Level one systems check on Grani complete. Commencing with Level two.
[Zoom to Riley and Daisy.]
Riley: Daisy, as soon as we're done running the system checks on Grani, you can start installing the new equipment.
Daisy: The sooner the better.
[Shibumi walks behind the two women and rubs Grani's surface, admiring it.]
Shibumi: [completely in awe] Wonderful. I've never seen a more amazing piece of machinery.
Guilmon: [coy] Well I have�
Shibumi: Huh?
[Shibumi turns to Guilmon, who has just walked up, grinning.]
Guilmon: Heh heh! Takato's parents have a machine in their store that makes bread!
Shibumi: Ha ha ha ha! [still chuckling] Well, I guess there's no way Grani here can compete with that!
[Eyeshot: Grani rolls his eyes.]
Guilmon: It's tough!
[Switch to Daisy, working furiously at the laptop, mortified.]
Daisy: [gasping, shaking] *pants* Ah�*gasp*[she turns from the camera]�RILEY!
[Scene change to the control room of Monster Makers HQ. Everyone in the facility is gathered around a nearby computer.]
Mr. Yamaki: [dry] Alright, what's all the commotion?
Riley: [depressed] Just watch�we stumbled on this when we were going through Grani's memory. They're images it recorded when it was in the Digital World.
[On the computer screen, a video file pops up, fuzzy for a while, black, and then, we are assaulted by an image of the Digital World, a barren wasteland with a smoky sky, coated in the red blob. Looks like the moon and the Grand Canyon warped. One by one, the kids' faces appear, transparent, on the computer screen, reacting.]
Henry: [amazed, Terriermon on his shoulder] Ah�Look at all the destruction�
Rika: [sad, looks away] *gasp* No�
Kazu: [scared] Owah�
Kenta: [just as scared, clutching MarineAngemon] Uh!
Takato: [has a stalwart, angry look on his face] ����..
[A blaze of red streaks the screen. It's a screaming bird Digimon, a familiar Sovereign.]
Lopmon: [in Suzie's arms] Oh no! Zuqiaomon!
Ryo: They can't last much longer.
[Closeup of Dolphin's face.]
Dolphin: According to the data we pulled from Grani, over 47% of the Digital World has already been deleted. At this rate, the whole plain will be wiped out in a matter of days, if not hours.
[Switch to Yamaki, at another computer, standing over Tally, who is running it.]
Yamaki: [angry] And it could be the same for us! Look at these images! We've
just received satellite pictures from government intelligence.
[We see rapid pictures of D-Reaper at a radio station, NASA base, and military camp. Everyone is now gathered around this computer.]
Janyu: So we're not the only ones under attack�Where else has D-Reaper appeared?
[Tally is frantic. Closeup profile of Tally.]
Tally: Ooh, a more accurate question is 'where hasn't it appeared?'! D-Reaper's attacking communication systems from North America to Zimbabwe! It looks like the whole world's under siege!
[Switch to Daisy and Babel. Daisy is crying.]
Daisy: [crying] My family�what will they do?
Mr. Matsuki: [frustrated] This is MADNESS. [Everyone is looking at Matsuki, who has his fists clenched and yelling.] We give it everything we've got. We put our children in danger. And for what?!
[Switch to Yamaki.]
Mr. Yamaki: We don't have any other choice. There's no Plan B, so we have to fight. And besides, as long as we're here, there's always hope. [He smiles warmy, and removes his glasses. His kind eyes are a pretty strong contrast to his mean sunglasses.] That's a lesson I learned from working with your sons and daughters, Mr. Matsuki.
Mr. Matsuki: [very quiet] *gasp* Oh�[he and his wife look down at Takato.]
Mr. Yamaki: They don't give up. And they fight with their hearts and souls. [Switch to Yamaki, with a "business" look on his face, gazing at D-Reaper.] And NOW it's our turn!
[COMMERCIAL BREAK]
[Back in the Kernel Sphere, Beelzemon is a restrained vegetable. Calumon is heard from far off.]
Calumon: [frustrated] BEELZEMOOOON!
[Beelzemon's eyes tighten, then snap open. He looks at his restraints, then at Jeri below.]
Beelzemon: [weary, then shouting angrily] Gah! Huh? Uh! JERI! Hang on, kid! I'M GONNA GET YOU OUTTA HERE!
[Back in the bubble, Jeri is not reacting. Calumon is.]
Calumon: [frantic excited] Hey Jeri, we're gonna get outta HEEERE! [There is an earthquake in the bubble. Calumon falls down, and Jeri is totally unfazed.] Woo! Waugh! What was that?
[From an outside view, we see the red bubble glowing and swelling. Uh oh.]
Calumon: [shaky] I don't speak D-Reaper, but it sure sounds mad!
Beelzemon: Huh? *pant* [His restraints tighten and pulsate, as the Kernel Sphere grows bigger. He is strapped to the side, so he pulls farther and farther away from the core: Jeri.] WAAAAAGH! AAAAAAAAAAAAGH! JERIIIIII!
[The Kernel continues to enlarge, and finally, turn a rainbowy transparent. Large yellow balls, one in each polar direction, circle the sphere, and yellow rods poke out from the Kernel, between the balls. In between each of these rods emerges a dark green blade. From the outside, the Consciousness bubble is now the deep red one.]
[On the HQ balcony, Guardramon is making a fuss at this development while Cyberdramon growls beside him.]
Guardramon: No! Bless my bolts! Do you see what I see?
[Back in the HQ, everyone is looking out the window.]
Janyu: What in the name of Pete is THAT?
Terriermon: Looks like more bad news to me�
[Dolphin, with a camera, zooms in at the core. Rika is watching the camera monitor.]
Dolphin: It seems the D-Reaper is trying to defend�its core. The Kernel of Consciousness.
Rika: *gasp* LOOK! There's someone in there!
[She points at a figure attached to the inside of the bubble. Henry, Terriermon, and Renamon stare.]
Renamon: It's Beelzemon!
[Takato stands down near the others.]
Takato: Let's give 'im a hand, guys. Whaddaya say?
[One by one, they all nod. Takato turns to his parents, waiting for their approval.]
Mrs. Matsuki: *gasp* Oh�[She is unsettled.]
Takato[nods]: Don't worry. I'll be careful.
[Mr. Matsuki nods and smiles gently. His wife has buried her face in his shirt.]
Takato: Now let's GO!
[They all run off. Except for�]
Guilmon: Huh? WAIT UP!
Terriermon[on Henry's shoulder]: Hey Lopmon, you stay behind n' look after Suzie, okay?
Lopmon: [disappointed, in Suzie's arms] *sigh* Oh, alright. [she pounds a little fist] Don't worry, you can count on me!
[They all run out on the pavement, fairly close to the red mass. Zoom to an angry Takato and a crouched Guilmon.]
Takato: *panting*
Guilmon: Hm!
Takato: The Kernel Sphere! I bet that's where Jeri is!
[A couple dozen gray, squid shaped D-agents on red cables float in.]
Ryo: We've got company!
[Everyone freezes for a moment, worried, as they close in. Then Cyberdramon and Guardramon jump out in front.]
Cyberdramon/Guardromon: Grah! Uh!
[They charge.]
Cyberdramon: Raaaaaah!
Guardromon: Prepare to meet your programmer!
[Back to a REALLY angry Takato and Guilmon.]
Takato: Showtime, Guilmon!
Guilmon: Yup, I'm ready.
[Takato holds up his Digivice. It glows.]
Takato: Hang in there, Jeri, we're comin' to get you!
[The following animation is Takato's Biomerge Digivolution, which is just too weird to describe at this moment. At its debut in the series, I'll transcribe it, but for the moment, I just hope you know what it looks like.]
Digivice: Biomerge Digivolution.
Takato: Biomerge activate!
Guilmon: Guilmon Biomerge tooooo�
Gallantmon: GALLANTMON!
[A D-agent blocking the camera explodes into red goo, and now Gallantmon's spear fills the camera. It's go time.]
Takato: D-Reaper, you've destroyed everything we love! If you think we're gonna take it lying down, you have another think comin'!
Guilmon: We're mad as heck, and we're not gonna take it anymore!
[Switch to Renamon and Rika, with a glowing Digivice.]
Rika: Biomerge activate!
[Switch to Terriermon and Henry, with a glowing Digivice.]
Henry: Biomerge activate!
[Switch to Cyberdramon and Ryo, with a buttered waffle, er, glowing Digivice.]
Ryo: Biomerge activate!
[There is no Digivolution animation, only three or four flashes of light seen from far-off. Switch to HQ, Suzie and Lopmon's faces are pasted on a pane of glass, staring at the action.]
Suzie: It wooks weally dangewous out dere, but I guess they don't need our hewp if they asked us to stay hewe, huh Lopmon?
Lopmon: [uneasy] Yeah, I guess so. *sigh* [looks down] Aw, I just hope you're right, Suzie.
[We see a computer monitor, with a pie-shaped loading bar, just filled up, Grani's profile, and other random stuff.]
Riley: [triumphant] Grani's new equipment is installed. [turns to Yamaki] We are ready for takeoff!
[Yamaki's lighter snaps just in front of the camera as he sighs.]
Mr. Yamaki: �..*sigh* Well, it's now or never. [pumps his fist] RIGHT! Take off!
[In the hangar, Grani's eyes shimmer and with a BIG blaze of wind, nearly knocking down two scientists, he lifts off through the open skylight, hovers, loads up a big blast, and rockets off into the wild blue yonder. Back at the city battle, Sakuyamon is leaping walls, dodging rapid shots from agents. They hit a streetlight and a building, but not her. She turns.]
Rika[inner]: Alright, ENOUGH with the bobbing and weaving. Let's show 'em what we got!
Sakuyamon: SPIRIT STRIKE!
[She lets loose three Spirit Strikes that zap a few agents, only for more to take their place.]
Ryo[inner]: Get 'em now!
Cyberdramon: With pleasure!
Justimon: THUNDERCLAP!
[Justimon thwacks the road with a big clawed Thunderclap, destroying more agents. But more take their place again. Sakuyamon and Justimon stand together.]
Sakuyamon: They just keep coming back!
[With a thud, the gigantic MegaGargomon lands behind them. We see the inner full-body matrix of Henry, pulling back a punch. It's a good thing they don't show any real anatomy here, let me tell you�]
Henry: Yaaaaaaaaaaa!...
[MegaGargomon opens all the weapon valves and lets fly.]
MegaGargomon: MEGA BARRAGE!
[The shots destroy a dozen or so agents while Gallantmon flies overhead on Grani. MegaGargomon notices him.]
Henry: Hm? [inner] Takato, we'll keep the agents busy for a while.
[Gallantmon is busy slaying D-agents, but he stops for a moment.]
Henry: You work on finding Jeri!
Takato: [inner]Good idea! [outer, Gallantmon leaps away from the agents.] Uh!
Gallantmon: Grani! [Grani stops, and Gallantmon leaps onto his mount.] Uh. Ah. Let's go! [He zips off towards the Kernel Sphere.]
[Now in the Kernel Sphere with Beelzemon, we see him stressing against his restraints, being smothered a bit more. He finally just starts yelling.]
Beelzemon: Ungh! Rrrrrrrgh!...Nyuh! Hey! You D-Reaper SCUM! [slowly, the camera pans to the bubble. Calumon cocks his head and listens to B. rant. An eyeshot of Jeri shows she is still completely vacant.] I don't know if you got ears or what. But listen up and listen good! You may have me hog-tied for now�[back to B., struggling.]rrgh�mm, rrgh! [mouthshot] BUT I WON'T LET YOU STOP ME! [With some work, he frees his left arm, snapping the cables] Rrrr-aaaaa�grah! [he follows suit with his right, snapping those cables] Rraaaaaa�euh! [He grips the big cable crossing his chest and twists it, sinking his claws in] AAAAAAAAH!
[Calumon shakes Jeri excitedly. She doesn't react.]
Calumon: Look Jeri, Beelzemon's gonna break free so then he can help get us out too! C'mon Beelzemon, YOU CAN DO IT!
[Still vacant and unmoving, Jeri slowly speaks]
Jeri: Beel�ze�mon?
Beelzemon: Hruh! [the cable tightens and Beelzemon flickers] Rrr-aah? Aaa! What's goin' on? [B. flickers a bit more, and then just plain vanishes]
[Calumon stares at the distant empty cables]
Calumon: BEELZEMOOON! Huh-oh�[to still-vacant Jeri]He went bye-bye!
[Beelzemon swirls through the red mass like he's being flushed, yelling�some more.]
Beelzemon: JERIIIIIII! [he pops out into the open air through a hole in the mass. I guess he got ejected.] AAAAA! What happened?! [He is far from the Kernel Sphere, flapping in midair.]
Gallantmon: Beelzemon!
Beelzemon: Huh? [Gallantmon flies near him] Well, it's about time you showed up! Jeri and Calumon are trapped inside whatever-that-is!
Takato[inner]: I have an idea!
Gallantmon: Let's attack that thing together!
Beelzemon: You got it! [hand morphs to gun] Grrrrrrrraaaaaaaaah�CORONA BLASTER!
Gallantmon: Shield of the Just!
[Both their attacks blast out and intertwine, like a DNA strand, to blast one of the barrier yellow balls�with no effect at all.]
Takato: Oh man! We didn't even make a dent!
[Eagle-Totem shaped agents float in behind Gallantmon]
Guilmon: We have more trouble than we started with�
[Outside of the HQ skyscraper, voices are heard.]
Riley: Look at this.
Mr. Yamaki: What is it, Riley?
[Switch to Suzie and Lopmon. They turn from the window to look at the computer with Janyu, Riley, and Yamaki.]
Suzie: Huh?
[We see the computer screen used to broadcast footage. It's Gallantmon, staring at the camera, worried.]
Janyu: I don't think I can handle another surprise�
Riley: You'll like this one! [switch to her and Janyu's faces] Our receivers picked up the D-Reaper's signal. Now we can actually see what's going on from the D-Reaper's point of view.
Janyu: That's unbelievable!
[As they speak, the camera zooms slowly out the window toward the sky around the Sphere, where Gallantmon is staring at the agents�and the camera within them.]
Mr. Yamaki: Finally. A development that might actually help us�
[Zoom on one agent's eye, which narrows.]
Gallantmon: This is not good!...
[Back to Janyu and Riley.]
Janyu: That's just what meets the eye. [to Riley] D-Reaper should be able to see through layers of programming!
[Riley turns on this feature, we see the monitor's camera flicker, then blacken.]
Riley: Translating signal�NOW!
[The camera zooms through zeroes and ones, coding bars, and random symbols, until it reaches the Digimon core�little nude Takato looking worriedly around.]
Janyu: It can't be!
Mrs. Matsuki [closeup, in shock]: Takato!
[Takato doesn't know it, but he's now on Live TV all across the city, perhaps the globe. Flash (no pun intended,) to an average living room, with a mother reading the paper, and three kids at a table, spellbound by the TV.]
Mother: *gasps*
Kid: Mommy, who's that?
[On the street, nine big screens in a store feature Takato, five people watch.]
Man: Hey, check it out.
Woman: He's just a boy�
[Millions mutter as Takato appears on a humongous TV screen in the city square. And finally, in Takato's own classroom, the kids are eating lunch and watching the news�and their classmate.]
Kid: Ms. Nami, what's going on?
Kid 2: Look, it's Takato!
[For a moment, Takato stops staring and violently swings his arms back and forth, yelling.]
Takato: Yah! Grah! Yah! Grah!
Kid 3: Takato!
[The screen flickers, and we see Gallantmon's shield and spear swinging.]
Gallantmon: Yah! Grah! Yah! Grah!
[The class stares, mouth wide open, some with spoons frozen halfway up to their mouths.]
Kid 4: Wooooow!
Kid 2: He's a digimon!
[Kid 5, a cool jock from earlier episodes, munches on a sandwich, transfixed.]
Kid 5: MAN! That's so cool! [the class hears footsteps leaving the classroom] Huh?
[It's Ms. Nami, the teacher, running halfway out to the track field to call out to the sky. The class follows her and cheers with her.]
Ms. Nami: *panting, gasping* [weary-sounding] TAKATO, you can do iiiiiit!
[Back at the computer monitor, we see MegaGargomon getting shot in the face with little lasers. His face flickers�to Henry.]
Henry[inner]: There's too many of them!
[Flicker to Sakuyamon, in midair, which flickers to Rika inside]
Rika[inner]: Hold on, we're right above you.
[Closeup of VERY worried two mothers, Henry's and Rika's.]
Henry's Mom: Oh, Henry!
Rika's Mom: It's my baby!
[Switch to Yamaki, his hand against the window, head down, angry.]
Mr. Yamaki: Ah�I didn't KNOW! How could they merge with the digimon, how could I have let it get this far?! [The window switches focus, and we see a battle raging in the reflection. Suzie is under the table, next to Lopmon, crying and holding her Digivice. Lopmon is sad, but not crying. She growls confidently.]
Lopmon: I've never felt so helpless�there must be SOMETHING I can do�hm.
[Switch to outside of HQ. A building on the top floor rumbles�]
Lopmon: BLAZING ICE!
[and explodes outward. Yamaki shields his face, and Lopmon jumps onto the sill.]
Mr. Yamaki: Gah�what are you DOING?!
Lopmon: Uh!
[Switch to Suzie.]
Suzie: Wopmon, what's wong?
[Lopmon stands on the sill, facing Suzie, ears blowing in the wind.]
Lopmon: I can't sit by while our friends are in danger. I just can't! [closeup] Help me, Suzie�
Suzie: Huh? [realization] �Oooooh! Uh huh! [her Digivice flashes brilliantly] AAAAA!
[Lopmon jumps out the window and flaps her ears like wings, floating far away before exploding in light]
Lopmon: Lopmon digivolve toooo�[the light clears]Antylamon! [she drops through the air] Go for it, Suzie!
[The Digi-modify animation starts, for the first time, with Suzie. She has a really REALLY big smile on her face�really.]
Suzie: DIGI-MODIFY! YAAAAY! Radiant Force activaaaaaate!
Antylamon: Thanks, Suzie, I knew you could do it. [she is surrounded by a purple aura of light, which allows her to fly, er, float.] Grrraaaaah-uh! [she floats off.]
[Suzie is again pasted against a window, with Yamaki and Tally not far behind her.]
Suzie: Take cawe of Henwy and his fwends fo me, okay?
Mr. Yamaki: Tally, can you find me a satellite that hasn't been destroyed by the D-Reaper?
Tally: Right. Away!
[We see the red mass. From far off, there are explosions.]
Guardromon: Guardian Barrage!
[Cut to explosions. Kazu is pumping his fists in victory/adolescent gusto.]
Kazu: FEEL THE WRATH OF BLACKWARKAZUMON! [Kenta backs into him] Uh! What's the big idea?
[They are surrounded by about two dozen squid-agents. Kazu and Kenta both whimper in a most entertaining way for a moment, then Kenta notices a shadow above.]
Kenta: Hm?
[Antylamon attacks the agents]
Antylamon: Bunny Blades! Ruh!
[Cut to Guardromon, Kenta, Kazu, MarineAngemon]
Kenta: Hey, we're saved by the bunny!
Kazu: Bunny, my eye! That's a one-rabbit army! Ha ha!
MarineAngemon: She's wonderful.
[She attacks the agents, they explode into goo, and, of course, more appear.]
Antylamon: UH! *gasp* There's so many of them�I hope the others are alright�
[COMMERCIAL BREAK]
[Pan to the Kernel Sphere. All of a sudden, lasers shoot rapidfire through the air at�Beelzmon. He is on the side of the Sphere opposite Gallantmon. He dodges the shots]
Beelzemon: HUH! Grah! Uh! Gee-RAAAAAH! [he pulls out his little twin pistols] Nyuuuuuuh! YOU ASKED FOR IT AND YOU GOT IIIIT! [A chance shot hits B's pistol out of his hand and sends him reeling] AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
[Cut to Gallantmon on Grani, rushing to the rescue]
Gallantmon: Beelzemoooon!
[At this moment, the dark green blades wrapped around the Sphere are released and they box in Gallantmon.]
Gallantmon: Now what?
[All the blades angle toward him, and fly in hundreds, sparking against his armor]
Gallantmon: AAAAAAAA!
[Back in the bubble, Calumon is beating against the bubble, running from side to side, completely flipped out. Jeri is still unfazed.]
Calumon: Okay, Jeri! Doooon't panic! Don't freak out! Look at me! I'm fine, I'm relaxed, I'm GONNA GO OUT OF MY MIND IF WE DON'T GET OUTTA HERE!
[Cut to Beelzemon, shielding himself with his now morphed gun-hand. He ignores the lasers and flies toward a yellow ball on the outside of the sphere. We now learn the ball's purpose as it flips over to reveal a blue eye on one side.]
Beelzemon: AAAAAA-YAH! [he stops, stares at the eye] Rrrrrrr-uh! Huh?
[The camera pulls back to show B., like a little crow, at the base of the ball-eye.]
D-Reaper: Commencing data extraction from Katou Jeri's memory.
Beelzemon: Hey, you�you're usin' Jeri's voice!
D-Reaper: Analysis completed. Subject positively identified as Beelzemon; a digimon that digivolved from Impmon.
[Back in the bubble, Calumon jumps back, surprised, and stares at Jeri.]
Calumon: Oooh! Huh?
[As D-Reaper speaks, we see Jeri, STILL frozen and vacant, the D-Reaper is apparently speaking from her memory.]
D-Reaper: Beelzemon; a digimon that tried to harm Jeri Kauto, and other human children, when they were in the Digital World.
[The camera pulls out to show the city-scape. The whole city can hear D-Reaper.]
D-Reaper: Beelzemon, the digimon that destroyed Jeri Kauto's partner, Leomon, in order to load his data and become stronger.
[In HQ, Jeri's Dad beats a glass window, angrily shouting. His wife holds him back.]
Jeri's Dad: Gaaaaah�[he groans, still hurt] oooh�
[Cut back to the eye, with B. still hovering at its base.]

Beelzemon: Shut up. SHUT UP!
D-Reaper: Destroyed Leomon�destroyed Leomon�destroyed Leomon�
[As Beelzemon speaks, we get a mouthshot of him that pans to an eyeshot as he finishes.]
Beelzemon: STOP USING JERI'S VOICE! IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME FEEL BAD? WELL IT'S NOT WORKING! I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!
[FLASHBACK: Leomon's Death in the Digital World. Leomon is holding Beelzemon by the shoulders, to prevent him from hurting anyone.]
Leomon: Stop this!
Beelzemon: Mrrraaaaaaah!
[B. turns to him in rage and there is the sound of a crunch, followed by a squish.]
Leomon[eyeshot, glazed]: Oh.
Jeri[screaming in terror]: AAAA!
[B's fist is sticking through Leomon's body, entirely, emerging through his back. Leomon pulls back, roaring.]
Leomon[in pain]: Graaaaah!
Jeri[screams some more]: OH! AAAA!
[Leomon is on his back, the hole in his stomach spreading through his body to evaporate into raw data.]
Leomon[fading]: Why can't you see? �
[Cut to Jeri. She SCREAMS, and cries.]
Jeri: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
[Leomon's head is the last to go. We see it evaporating, and B. absorbing the data.]
Beelzemon: I'll keep loading data�[the last of Leomon is absorbed] UNTIL NO ONE CAN STOP MEEEEEE!
[END FLASHBACK: Beelzemon's eye opens, quaking.]
Beelzemon: What I did�is beyond forgiveness. I don't need anyone to tell me that. [As he speaks, B. is drawing a five-pointed star in the air with his gun, which becomes a midair crosshair of sorts, and glows pink] No matter what I do, I can't change the past. But what I CAN do�is save JERI!...[cut to a triumphant B's face] AND LET ME TELL YA, NO TALKIN' EYEBALL'S GONNA STOP ME! CORONA DESTROYER!
[He fires his gun at the crosshair, which amplifies the charge into a HUGE current of purple fire, which hits the eyeball full blast. B. continues to fuel the current with shots.]
Beelzemon: How's it feel bein' on the other end of the whoopin' stick? YAAAAAAAAAH!
[Cut back to the bubble. Calumon is tugging Jeri's arm as the explosions flash outside.]
Calumon: C'mon, Jeri, he's trying to save you, don't you even care? I know everything looks scary-bad right now, but Beelzemon's not giving up, so you shouldn't give up EITHER! Oh, Jeri, please say something! [She doesn't respond]
[Smoke surrounds the eyeball. It begins to clear.]
Beelzemon: Howdja like that? Not so chatty now, are ya?! [There is no damage whatsoever to the eye] WHAT?! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! [The eye fires a purple blaze right back at him, his own attack] Graaaah-nyeh! [His gun-arm is stripped to data leaving only a hand in the attack] NO! [Squinting all this time, he opens one eye] Rrrrrr-augh!
[FLASHBACK: Mako giving Impmon the gun. On the curb, Mako stands with his sister, holding a little toy watergun out to Impmon, who is leaving to fight.]
Mako: Take it. [Impmon takes it] It's my favorite. And you can shoot the bad guys with it.
[Cut to later, Impmon is now Beelzemon, running and looking at the toy in his hand.]
Beelzemon: Hm? Thanks, Mako. [It becomes a real gun, attached to his arm] This just might just come in handier than you'd think!
[END FLASHBACK: B's hand is smoking. The attack has subsided, and he tightens his once-gun-hand into a fist]
Beelzemon: That was a gift from Mako. I'll make you sorry you ever came to this world. I'LL MAKE YOU PAAAAAAY! [he rushes the Sphere, which fires lasers at him] AAAAAAAAAAAA! [he screams in rage, not pain. He is un-hit.]
[The camera pulls out, and we see Gallantmon, far off, rushing in with the blades in pursuit.]
Gallantmon: We HAVE to save him! [dodging the blades] Wah! Whoaaa! Aa! Whoa!
[The blades fill the sky above Gallantmon's head, poised to drop. Cut to Takato's inner matrix.]
Takato[inner]: Rrrrgh!
Mr. Yamaki [radio transmission]: Takato, come in. Can you hear me?
Takato[inner]: Huh? Mr. Yamaki?
[Outside HQ]
Mr. Yamaki: We got through. He can hear us!
[Inside HQ, Tally is wearing a bandanna, feeling pretty happy with her radio-work.]
Tally[snaps her fingers]: Bingo! Hah hah!
Janyu: [looks at Tally] That's a brilliant idea, using the satellite to talk to Takato.
[View of the computer monitor, sending satellite signals via radio waves.]
Mr. Yamaki: Fortunately�[smiling at Janyu] it's not the only idea we have. �[talking to Takato] Okay, Takato, you need to listen carefully.
[Cut to inner Takato matrix, Takato is listening to Yamaki's instructions.]
Mr. Yamaki: Grani has been equipped with a powerful weapon called a Yuggoth Blaster. I want you to use it on the D-Reaper.
Takato[inner]: With pleasure�sir.
[Cut to Beelzemon. No more laser attacks, but B. is in midair, exhausted.]
Beelzemon: *deep panting*
Gallantmon: Beelzemon!
Beelzemon: Hm?
[Cut to Gallantmon on Grani, coming in fast.]
Gallantmon: Ya better get out of the waaaay!
[Grani opens his mouth and three blue electricity balls twirl inside, connected by a wire of electricity. Cut to Beelzemon, who jumps clear.]
Beelzemon: Heh. Rrraah!
Gallantmon: YUGGOOOOTH BLASTEEEERRRR!
[A blast of blue energy is released from Grani's mouth, it hums, and grows into a GIGANTIMOUS field of blue energy, that zips and crashes, direct hit, on the eyeball. It explodes in flame, and a smoke and light storm fills the air]
Gallantmon[squinting]: Aaah!
Beelzemon[squinting]: Rrrruh!
[The eyeball, charred black, shatters, and destroys the Sphere, which shatters like glass to separate into data. The red bubble, Core of Consciousness, turns opaque pearl, barely visible, exposed, through the flames.]
Beelzemon: *yells something incoherent* [flies full speed to the bubble through the flames] JERI!
[Cut to Jeri. Sunlight peters through her bubble, but she's still vacant.]
Takato: Jeri! You have to listen to me!
Jeri[her brow furrows]: Hm.
Takato[inner]: Beelzemon's bent on saving you, he's gonna keep trying no matter what, so PLEASE, you have to let him help you!
[Jeri's eyes are dark and empty, but she responds, raising her eyebrows.]
Jeri[whispers]: Ta�ka�to?
[B. is now at the bubble. It is transparent from Jeri's POV, she can see him slugging away, but B. sees opaque pearl. He punches the bubble relentlessly, and it ripples, but does not show damage.]
Beelzemon: [pronouncing one word per punch] Uh! Ruh! Guh! Guh! Wah! Uh! Rrr! Nuh! Geh! Gah! BREAK! Rrr! Uh! Why. Won't. You. BREAK!? Rrr!
[COMMERCIAL BREAK]
[Opens on B's fists pummeling an opaque bubble]
Beelzemon: You. Dumb. Stinkin'. Fish. Bowl! [B's face is shown] LET! Uh! HER! Uh! GOOOO!
[Cut to Jeri, empty, but speaking.]
Jeri: Be�el�zemon.
[B. continues punching.]
Beelzemon: Ruh! I'll get you out, Jeri, if it's the last thing I FREAKING DOOOO!
[Jeri's speaking is more fluid and she begins to breathe more.]
Jeri: Beelzemon. He really wants�to save me? *gasp* Huh?
[Her eyes finally lighten. She is herself, if not shaken. She stands up, slowly, and stares at Beelzemon, who still punches the bubble.]
Jeri: I don't�understand. *gasps, shivers*
[The camera zooms out of the bubble slowly, to the opaque surface that B. is punching. His punching ends.]
Beelzemon: *pants heavily* [pumps fist to the sky, screaming to, well, who knows?] RRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! GIVE ME THE STRENGTH I NEEEEEED!
[Jeri walks forward to the surface of the bubble, fully aware.]
Jeri: Beelzemon? Beelzemon, please help me! *gasp* Huh? Ah! [she freezes]
Beelzemon: AAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Leomon: AAAAAAAAAAAH!
Beelzemon: AAAAAAAAAAAAH!
[What Jeri has just seen is Leomon, covering the image of Beelzemon, appear, fist in the air, screaming, only to disappear, leaving Beelzemon. B. draws a fist back.]
Beelzemon: FIIIIIIST! [screen triplets] OF! [triplets again on B's profile eyeshot] THE BEAST KIIIIIIIIING!
[Lancing forth from B's fist is Leomon's attack, a blaze of flame in the shape of a lion's head, which crashes on the bubble, and roars.]
Jeri: Uh�ah�[light spills into the bubble, with a breeze] Leomon? [eyeshot] *sobs*
[Calumon jumps up and down at Jeri's feet. Jeri's feet are backing away.]
Calumon: YAY! He did it, Beelzemon did it, we're FREEEEE!
[Beelzemon sticks his torso into the small, jagged opening he has made. The inside of the bubble is now opaque pearl too.]
Beelzemon: *pants heavily* [reaches out hand] Jeri, gimme your hand.
[Jeri seems paralyzed, crying.]
Jeri: *gasps, shakes* Uh�uh.
Beelzemon[stretching further into the opening]: Let's go, Jeri! What are you waiting for? [the bubble's "wound" starts to close off] HUH?! [B. grips the edge of the hole and pushes. No effect.]
[Calumon, at Jeri's feet, shoves with all his might.]
Calumon: COME OOOON! You can do it, Jeri! Let's goooo!
[B's head and arm are the only things still stretching through the hole, which rapidly coagulates.]
Beelzemon: It's closing. Hurry, before it's too late!
[Jeri's whole body shakes, her arm trembles, his lip quivers, and her eyes are shut, but she doesn't move. She looks like she's resisting something.]
Jeri: Mmmmm�mm. *whimpers* Ah. [her eyes open]
Beelzemon[pushes his head in more, mad now]: Take my hand! TAKE IIIIT!
[Pan fast to Jeri, tears streaking down face.]
Jeri: *gasps, cries, whimpers some more*
Calumon[at her feet, has stopped pushing]: Oooooooh.
[Closeup of a rapidly vanishing B's face.]
Beelzemon: I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU! PLEEEAASE!
[Jeri's teary eyes stare up at him, glazed and heartbreaking-looking.]
Jeri: *gasps, cries, whimpers* ���.You're not�Leomon.
[Eyeshot of Beelzemon, his eye widens.]
Beelzemon: [whispers, shocked] Wha?
[Gallantmon flies in on Grani]
Takato[inner]: JERI, TAKE HIS HAAAAAAAAND!
Gallantmon: Rrraaaaah! [He jumps off Grani to land on the bubble.]
Jeri: *gasp* Takato! *gasp* Is that you? *gasp, cry*
[The camera zooms from her face to the rapidly closing bubble. As the hole vanishes, B cries out.]
Beelzemon: JERIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
Jeri: Nooooo.
[Outside of the bubble once again, B. slugs away, like before.]
Beelzemon: JERI, JUST LET ME SAVE YOU! I NEED TO SAVE YOOOOUUUUU!
Gallantmon[mounting the bubble]: JERI! Huh? [He poises to strike the bubble, but stops, something catching his attention. B. keep slugging away.]
Beelzemon: Rrr! Ah! Rrr!
Gallantmon: Beelzemon, watch out!
Beelzemon: Huuuuh?
[The dozens of dark green blades have caught up with Gallantmon, but head toward the unassuming Beelzemon instead. B's eyeshot reveals his shock.]
Beelzemon: NOOO!
[In a blazing inferno, we see the shadow of his wings convulse, and then the shadow of B. reared up, shishkabobbed by about five blades, in his back.]
Beelzemon: Guh-Rrrrrruh�AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH! [Data spills from his body, his shadow grows thin.]
[Both MegaGargomon and Sakuyamon are a distance away, but watching.]
MegaGargomon: Aaaaah!
Sakuyamon: Wha-!
Henry[inner]: No! BEELZEMON!
Rika[inner]: Oh no�
[Beelzemon falls limp from the bubble as Gallantmon watches. We get an upside down closeup of him as he flickers, speaking stilted.]
Beelzemon[fading]: Rrr-oh�Aaaaaa! [closeup] Please[flicker]�I just need[flicker]�One. More. Chance[flicker]�Jeri! [flicker] JERIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
[TO BE CONTINUED; freezeframe]
Narrator: I never thought I'd say this, but, poor Beelzemon! Will he get that other chance? Find out on the next Digimon: Digital Monsters!
Awesome ep. I'll have to write a review when I get a reviews section up. And people say the first season is better. HAH! I was really entertained, and this is supposed to be a kids show. (Which would not help explain the gratuitous violence, but, meh, such is showbiz!)
