| "The Yooper Whooper" "Don't know its true name, But brave as a trooper, I witnessed the flight of The Yooper Whooper. Out in the dark, in fog thicker than soup- I hear something running, an' call:"whoop, whoop, whoop! It was raiding the garbage, but found itself soon surrounded by three big old angry Raccoons! Quicker than lightning, it ran past my door, with a loud "whoop, whoop, whoop that I'd heard years before! Chased by Raccoons, it ran off in the night - a "blur" of brown fur, like "greased-lightning"in flight! Not native to these parts, it came from afar - must have hitched a ride here in a camper or car! That call was familiar, that loud "Whoop, whoop, whoop!" I'd heard it Up North, as kid, in the "Yoop"! It was then, as a kid, I gave it that name, which made it less scary, and sounded more tame. However it got here, I think it's just super to have our own neighborhood "Yooper-Whooper"! (*Karen M.
