Shelley first moved to Huron County in 1996 and currently lives in Seaforth with her partner, who runs a business there. She is an avid camper, enjoys photography, and simplicity. She has recently moved her hankering for tinkering and building into the classroom, having recently begun a program in carpentry. She looks forward to installing a few new windows and adjusting a few door jambs at Queen's Park.
"I'm running because I think that it's increasingly important that people in Huron-Bruce have an opportunity to vote for a future that is sustainable. Never before in this province has it been so critical for us to consider what we really want, not only in the short term but in the long term as well. Incidents like the one that occurred in Walkerton are not anomalies anymore; the way we live has an impact and we need to be responsible in the choices that we make. We can not afford any longer to ignore the root causes of such occurrences nor of growing rates of both physical and emotional illness. We in Huron-Bruce need to be able to have a choice other than the status quo, which continues to assume that the main goal of government is to increase economic growth, at any cost, including the degredation of the very environment in which we grow our food. The Green Party is the only one that offers sustainability as its main goal."
