| Peter claims he doesn't remember me in middle school. I don't mind that he doesn't. Frankly, the two of us didn't know each other at the time. Similarily, you can remember a certain distant classmate in 6th grade, but you wouldn't actually state that you had personally known the person. Anyway, since Peter doesn't have an image of me during the middle school years, I don't think you'll be able to read "How We Met: Peter's Version". And so, here's Huong's version of the friendship.... I clearly remember myself walking with my friends to the band room. I reached for the door, swung it open--and at that very same moment, I had literally bursted out laughing because someone behind me had said a joke. I don't remember which friend was behind me at the time, perhaps it was Alice and Viviana. I'm nearly certain it was Alice because she's the one usually making jokes; and I'm the one usually laughing right after. My laughter echoed within the wavy ceilings of that room. I was quite surprised the I had been so loud. As a natural reaction, I quickly looked to my left to see if anybody had heard me. It was |

| quite of a relief to see nobody in the bandroom, however on to my left was the teacher's seperate office. There were three people in that office: Mr, Maurer (music teacher), a black man, and next to the man was a black boy. He had a light grey Hoover sweatshirt that had the polo colar neatly tucked out, with black pants and nice dress shoes....I think they were dress shoes...but either way, he looked very primmed. They had all shifted their conversation and looked directly at me. I don't remember if I had said "Sorry", but either way, I felt beyond the extremes of embarrasment. After I had clamped my mouth shut, I don't remember what happened after I "eavesdropped" about who those two people were. The boy transfered to this school and will be playing in Intermediate band's drum section. He has had experience. That was all I knew until later when class began while Mr. Maurer introduced the new kid. This is my memory on how I first "met" Peter. I don't know how I learned Peter's name, nor do I remember how I found out he moved from Massachusettes. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Other than intermediate music, Peter was also in my first period Math class. He sat two group tables ahead of my group table. He would always lean his chair back. I don't think I even have heard him talk in class at all. But anyway, Peter and I never talked during that year. He must have transfered during mid-Winter, so the year ended soon after. In 8th grade, I didn't notice if Peter was still at Hoover. He must have came back sometime during fall/winter, then the disappered again. I didn't pay attention about it at all. Then during Spring, I think, while during 4th period math, Peter came into my class. One of my first thoughts was: "PETER's back!!!! Omg, he's huge.....and....is his foot injured?!" He wore a grey polo shirt, the black pants, and a fanny pack around his waist. I approached Peter, either that same moment, or another time in the same class. I vaguely remember how it went, but I asked him if he was going to join Advanced Band. I went on telling him about our new music teacher since Mr. Maurer had resigned. Peter didn't answer me, but he slightly gave me a distant "I don't know you/what are you talking about/stay away from me" look, and continued walking away. But for sure, later in the day, 6th period Advance Band, I told my buddies that Peter came back, but they didn't quite seem excited about it as I was. Eight grade ended, high school begins. I don't know if Peter was in my 6th period english on the 1st day of school, but I was excited to know that he is at the same highschool. First semester didn't involve Peter in my life, but 2nd semester....ha...Mrs. Todd seated him in the middle between me and Morgan. He was annoying! Not annoying in the "shut up" sense, but annoying as |

| in "omg, you're such a jokester". I enjoyed his sketchy violent cartoons, his rapping with Patrick during classwork, and his constant rhyming of my name. His well known works (to me at least :-p ) are: "Greetings Huong Ly, how art thee?" and the re-invention of Sisqo's Thong Song called the "Huong Song". Lunch time pass bys were fun, he'd throw things at Alice and Morgan, .....but because he sucked he'd hit me instead hahah. (J/k peter) O yea...freshman year, because of Peter, I sold my soul to the MARRBA organization. I'm number 51 AwWw YeA!! |

| In Sophomore year, Peter was in my 2nd period Spanish, 3rd-English, 5th-Math. He soon transfered into 1st-History. We didn't talk as much as freshman year though. But I surely watched him during class more often. Mentally laughed at his jokes. And damn, during his suspension periods I was living in gloom. I didn't look forward going to my classes during those times. I would be anxious to go to 1st and 2nd, just to see if Peter would be back, but by the end of 2nd-and he's not in class, the rest of the day would be slow and (of course) boring. 2nd and 5th period with Peter was the best, those were the times he'd talk. The bad thing about 5th is when he goes out to play basketball during lunch. Why? Well, he'd be in class looking all sweaty and tired. His afro hair-do didn't work so well with the sweat. Urgh. But hey, he's "bald" now :-D. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| And Junior year...where must I beginnin? Um, wait, summer before 11th grade: before sophomore year ended, I was able to pursuade Peter into taking music with me. He was gonna play the saxophone, and I was gonna be his aid. Heheheh, on the last day of 10th, we were able to talk for a bit. During the summer, we emailed each other, nothing serious though. Talked about our vacations and reasons why he should start taking the saxophone out of the car trunk (LoL). On the first day of 11th, the only class I had with Peter was 6th: Beginning Orchestra and Band. Wheee....until Sept 12, Peter was absent for nearly a whole freakin month!!! That was sorta miserable..having to wait until the END OF THE DAY to see if he's back at school yet. I finally got his email reply about 3 weeks into his absense. Once he got back (yay)--he had to change schedules!!!!! AAaaghh....and so he was in 7th period Jazz and no other classes | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| with me. I had fun teaching Peter the technique of playing the sax. There were awkward times, but uh, thats's about it. In November, we were in the SAT prep class. I asked him to Homecoming that month (you all know what happened LoL). We also self-elected ourselves to be President/V. P of Y-Achievers. Got to chat nearly every night on AIM. In December, Peter and I got a TINY BIT closer. Invited him to take Driver's Ed. but he didnt take the offer. In Jan/Feb. he got me my 1st gift. For the month of March, Peter was T.A for 6th period Music. Music class got us super close, and thanks to AoL AiM--our frienship became an actual bond this year. So if it wasn't for all those schedule changes, hs requirments, etc, etc, Peter wouldn't have been able to get to know me more. Adding on, in April was the Y-Achievers "So-Cal College Tour" for 3 days...wheee! For May/June, you all know what happened. So there you have it, Huong's version of "How We Met." |
