The Huntsville Alumnae Association of Delta Gamma was founded on June 10, 1963. Local alumnae met at the Redstone Officers Club to elect their first officers. Mrs. John Paul Poole became the first president of the Huntsville Alumnae Association. They began by holding monthly meetings and having guest speakers which included Eric Fris, director of Arts Council Inc., and Mrs. Z.H. Coberly, missionary and health expert. It was also in 1963 that Delta Gamma began supporting the Huntsville Panhellenic Association, which continues meeting today. Huntsville Delta Gammas celebrated their first Founders Day on March 15, 1964. In 1968, the Huntsville Alumnae Association began working with the community through a kindergarten vision screening program as part of the Education Improvement Program. The spirit of service continued with a Christmas party for the children at a rehabilitation center. In addition to their support of the community, the sisters of Delta Gamma in North Alabama also enjoyed luncheons, bridge meetings, and many other events to celebrate the bonds of sisterhood.
