I have been raising cavies for almost six years but only been showing since 2001. We are slowly working to improve the bloodlines and type of our stock.
I first fell in love with cavies when I bought our first pig for Brandon's 1st birthday. I got a sow that I later found out would be a mother very soon. And from that first time I saw the babies, that was all it took to get me hooked. They have been the one thing I do for me!
Last year I started a cavy youth group just to teach children to take care of their friends, and then a short while later to get them excited about showing! Learing sometimes right along with them. Before long, I had adults that wanted to show right along with their kids and have just as much fun.
My dream is to start a cavy group closer to home, which is in the works as I type this out! So everyone will know what wonderful pets they make and to tell anyone who will listen how much they enrich your life!
Things that put a smile on my face!
My kids, our new puppy, the look on my husbands face when yet another pig is gone, and most of all watching my pigs do good on the show table even if I dont own them!
