Bridgemen’s Magazine 1901
In July 1901 James Kelly of Local 3 in Pittsburgh Pa. Printed the first issue of The Bridgemen’s Magazine.
Original cost was $1.00 per year.
At the convention in 1902 General President Buchanan proposed that the international purchase the magazine.
Beginning with the January 1903 issue, The Bridgemen’s Magazine became the official publication of the Ironworkers. It was managed and edited by the General Secretary/Treasurer.
In 1928 delegates to the international convention created the position of general editor of The Bridgemen’s Magazine to replace the General Sec./Treas.
Delegates at the 1956 convention changed officially changed the name of the Magazine from The Bridgemen to The Ironworker.
In 1957 the size of the Magazine was increased from 6”x9” to 9”x12”.
