Cleveland NJROTC

Jr. Varsity

Commanders

The 1999 Junior Varsity Commanders finished the season with a 3-2-1 mark.  The season started slow with a couple of tough 6 to 0 losses to Beaumont and Gateway high schools.  Sandwiched in between these two losses was a 16 to 6 victory over a much improved Soldan squad.  Mid-season saw the Commanders sitting at 1-2 and wondering what had happened.  The second half of the season began with a 24 to 6 homecoming whipping of Roosevelt.  Next up was perennial power Sumner.  After falling behind 16 to 0 at half the commanders found their stride and came back to earn a hard-fought 22 to 22 tie.  The final game of the season  pitted the 2-2-1 Commanders against the  3-2 Vashon Wolverines.  This game featured some great defense by the Commanders who shut out Vashon 8 to 0, thus, bringing home a winning season and 3rd place in the PHL
