It has come to my attention that I have had this website for a year and a half and have not put on my website what Huntingtons Disease is.  I am sorry about this. * 08/03/06

Here is a link to
HDSA that explains it all. Also here is a quick summery that I have come up with.
Huntingtons  disease is a neurological disorder where the Huntingtons gene repeats in the DNA.

Adult Huntingtons

Characteristics: are as fallowed

Stage One: decrease in cognitive ability and mobility, clumsiness
Mood swings, depression, and forgetfulness, involuntary twitching
  Obsessive over things (drinking, collecting)

Stage Two: even less concentration and short term memory decrease
Twitches increase in the neck, limbs and torso
  Walking, speaking abilities deteriorate

Stage Three: Weight lost (atrophy of the muscles)
  Little to no walking
  Little to no speech
  More mood swings
Swallowing is very difficult. Many patients aspirate their food. (at this stage a   feeding tube is usually put in place)
Death soon fallows. From infection or heart failure. Some one with HD can      live 10-15 years after diagnosis

Child Huntingtons

I am unsure of this. What I do know is that Huntingtons may start as early as 2. Children with Huntingtons rarely live to adulthood.
