Class of:          1988

Attended HHS: 1983-84
                          1984-85
                          1986-87
                          1987-88
HHS Favorite:
Oh holy cow . . . probably the small size of the school.  People from larger schools are often amazed at the student body size the year I graduated from Huntington.  I often get teased for it, but I really believe it was one of the unique little charms that made going to school at HHS attractive.  Plus, it was easier to keep track of the staff so you could be naughty!

What I would change:
Umm, I would like to have seen baseball offered.  There was baseball at HHS when I was in gradeschool there and, as my wife would attest, I really love baseball. (lol) Other than that, nothing realistic pops into my head.

What I would do differently:
I would not have taken that year break from school.  I wouldn't trade my kids or my experiences, but all things being equal, I would not have wasted that year of my life.
What I remember most:
Oh wow, i remember lots of stuff.  There was the time we beat Long Creek 99-0 in football, winning the Huntington Invitational Basketball Tournament my senior year, a bunch of us picking up Ms. Mowry's Volkswagen Beetle and putting it on the sidewalk, getting suspended for having a cigarette in my mouth in English class (it wasn't lit), long band and choir trips by bus, cool foreign exchange students each year. . . ok, I'm getting less specific, huh?
Catchup
Cities I've lived in:                      Oh holiest of cows, let's see . . . Salt Lake City, UT; back to
Huntington; Weiser, ID; back to Huntington; Ontario, OR; back to
Huntington (do you see a trend here?), Ontario again; Fruitland, ID

Companies I've worked for:       Man, I don't know if I can remember all the things I did before I left
the kicking around behind for a family.  Let's see . . . I worked in
Salt Lake as a welder's apprentice, at Farewell Benc, Inc. as a
dishwasher and cook, and I worked for TUFF Trucking out of
Weiser as a dispatcher and broker.  I worked at Jiffy Market in good
ol' Huntington as a part-time clerk (a couple different times), built
log homes in the Central Idaho Mountains, pulled greenchain at
Woodgrain Millwork in Fruitland, worked for Oregon State Parks for
17 years as a seasonal employee all the way up to a Park Ranger
Supervisor (Team Leader) and now manage the Mail Processing
Center at Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, where I've
worked for a little over a year.

Colleges I've attended:              I got a degree from the School of Hard Knocks, but not college.
                                                      (OMG, how cliche was THAT??)

How my expectations matched reality:    I honestly didn't have many expectations.  I was voted
most likely to end up in jail, then wound up with a badge
for many years and now work at a prison.  How ironic!
Anyway, I always thought it was terribly unfair to expect
high school kids to know and choose what they will do with
their adult lives at such a young age.  How could I know
what i wanted to be when i grew up?  I didn't grow up until
well after school was over.  I guess I'm a little jealous of
the maturity level some attain while still in high school.
You know these kids; quiet, self-assured, know absolutely
what career they want, where they'll attend college or
university, how they'll achieve they're goals, etc.  Yep,
them there kids made me wanna puke.  Ok, Maybe I still
                                                                      haven't grown up.

How my reality has been different:          Please don't make me ramble on again.  Oooh, but I will
say that the "real world" was a bit more shocking in some
ways, and less in others, than I expected.  I know, very
vague.  Also, my dad used to tell me, "One day you will
understand."  That day has indeed come, thanl you very
                                                                     much.

I've stayed in touch with:                          Gobs of people.  Have reconnected with more recently
due to the power of the 'puter.  Scotty McVicker and I
                                                                     stayed tight.

I'd like to re-gain contact with:                 Well, guess that would be three of the five ladies from my
graduating class.  I have no idea where Christine Godek,
Michelle Sanders, and Leora Stevenson are now.  I've
kept in touch with the folks I was closest to.  Hey Brandon
                                                                     Beedle, where are you?

My 3 most important accomplishments:  My son Denton, 17; my daughter Katie, 13; ummm, holy
                                                                      crap . . . I'm out of ideas.

or music or scouts or church or some kind of activity that needs
watching.  Deb and I watch movies and have some favorite tv
shows we watch together and I must keep up on my sports!
Oh yeah, my conscience (named Fatty) has told me it's time to
start exercising so I can add that to my already busy schedule.

Who am I kidding?  I'm not really that busy.
