GENERAL ZEDA was in charge of the takeover of Earth following its deafeat in a war with the Almedas. Despite appearance s to the contrary, ZEDA is an honorable man. He held a great respect for HARLOCK and tried to get a job piloting a ship. He was surprised when HARLOCK refused. He was even more surprised when HARLOCK started to rebel.
When ZEDA'S aide MERGESEN used MIA and EMERALDAS as bait for a trap, ZEDA was angered. Later he allowed HARLOCK to land his ship , ARCADIA in order to take MIA with him back into space. He also allowed the pirate to take the body of ZOL with him. He was furious when MERGESEN pulled a gun out despite orders not to do so. He then stood by and did nothing when HARLOCK shot his aide dead. He challenged HARLOCK to a ship to ship duel. The two captains waged a firey battle in Earth orbit. The fight ended when TOCHIRO used an ancient gunsight to fire a crippling shot at ZEDA'S ship. The general saluted his foe and then died as his ship blew up right in front of the ARCADIA. The blast released particles that allowed HARLOCK to destroy the Almedas fleet singlehandedly. In death, GENERAL ZEDA gave an incredible gift to his honored foe.
