VAN OWEN was the best explosives expert in the fleet. He would make bombs so powerful, even the detenator was deadly. He was assigned to aid the Chicago Resistance blow up a secret Neo weapons facility. On the way to the rendevous point, the shuttle he was in was attacked by a patrol. The pilot, KAZ TAKAGI had to make an emergency landing. The two worked feverishly to get all the explosives out of the ship before it blew. VAN OWEN realized the deetenator was still on board and ran in to get it. He ran out of time and he was killed when the shuttle exploded. TAKAGI and his partner WOLF BRONSKI, buried VAN OWEN near the wreck and used the explosives they salvaged to help the Resistance complete the mission.
