TOCHIRO was the lifelong friend of CAPTAIN HARLOCK. He helped build the ship ARCADIA and has always seen it as his finest work. He had a love affair with EMERALDAS. He aided both of his dear friends in their struggle to prevent the universe from being destroyed because of the RHINEGOLD'S theft and WOTAN'S wrath. TOCHIRO also invented the COSMO DRAGOON.
Later in life, he was stricken with an unknown fatal illness. He severed all contact with his mother, HARLOCK, and EMERALDAS, and moved into the wreck of the DEATH SHADOW on HEAVY MELDAR. Just before he died, he was visited by TETSURO. TETSURO asked where to find the TIME CASTLE. TOCHIRO told him and asked him to do him a favor. As he crawled into his bed, he asked TETSURO to pull a lever. As he did, a bright light surronded TOCHIRO and shot out into space. The diminutive little engineer then died and his body was buried by TETSURO. Unknown to many, TOCHIRO'S spirit merged with ARCADIA. Now he was a part of his greatest achievement and he could sail with his friend HARLOCK for all eternity. He then called EMERALDAS told her what happened.
Two years later, during the attack of SIREN THE WITCH on FINAL STATION ANDROMEDA, TOCHIRO told HARLOCK how SIREN was attracted to mechanized life force. He then advised HARLOCK to run on manual power and shut himself down.
TOCHIRO'S spirit still resides today in the ARCADIA.
