SHADOW was once a beautiful woman who gave up her humanity and decided to become a machine person. She thought that no machine face would match the beauty of her human one so she no face put on her machine body.
After years of existence as a machine, SHADOW began to regret her decision. She went to Pluto and became the tender of the GRAVES OF ICE. She placed her old body in a tomb at the edge of the graves. When TETSURO first came to Pluto, She showed him her body and told him her life story. She demanded he stay there, but MAETEL appeared and saved TETSURO. She then berated SHADOW for her actions. SHADOW broke down in tears and was left crying at the foot of her body's resting place.
Two years later, TETSURO was on the GALAXY EXPRESS 999 when it did a fly-by of Pluto. He saw SHADOW look up at the train from her post.
(Note: SHADOW appears in the new GE999 manga. She is also apparently killed when the solar system is destroyed.)
