PROWL was one of the Autobots under the command of OPTIMUS PRIME. He could transform into a police car. His function was to come up with plans of attack. He would always that he's got the plan if they have the cast iron manifolds for it.
On Earth, PROWL became one of PRIME'S closest adivisors. Being the Autobot strategist, he would frequently take command whenever PRIME was injured. He was the first Autobot to make contact with Chip Chase. Together, they defeated a Decepticon raiding party at an aeronautics factory, all while Chip was still at home on his computer.
PROWL made up the plan to free SPARKPLUG from Decepticon clutches when they captured him as a test subject for DR ARCHEVILLE. He took part in most of the operations to stop the Decepticons from using CYBERTRON to destroy the Earth.
PROWL was one of the Autobots to fall prey to BLITZWING, in the latter's attempt to take control of the Decepticons. He was smashed into a throne for the Triple-Changer but later was rescued and return to normal by PRIME.
By 2005, PROWL became a member of PRIME'S team on MOON BASE ONE. He served as co-pilot on the disasterous shuttle mission commanded by IRONHIDE. When the Decepticons attacked the shuttle and killed BRAWN, PROWL fired a laser bolt. It missed and he was shot dead by Scavenger of the CONSTRUCTICONS.
