MIND CONTROL HEADBANDS were used by Cobra to force people to do their bidding. They would be controlled by a joystick usually held by COBRA COMMANDER himself. A slave woman named Selena discovered that a thin strip of gold can be used to negate the HEADBAND'S effects. She used this to help DUKE and later SCARLETT when they were both prisoners of Cobra. In addition to DUKE and SCARLETT, several world leaders were captured and fitted with the HEADBANDS. The HEADBANDS were all removed when the Joes raided Cobra Headquarters and freed the slaves and world leaders.
Cobra also used a MIND CONTROL HEADBAND to brainwash a scientist named Dr. Shakur into creating a weapon to harness magma. Several HEADBANDS were used to coerce people with psychic abilities, including Airborne's brother Tommy. These particular HEADBANDS were configured to augment the natural abilities of the user.
A varation of the MIND CONTROL HEADBAND called the Tiara was used to interrogate LADY JAYE when she stumbled into a Cobra operation while dealing with a civilain named Charles Freemont. The Tiara is designed to deliver a strong jolt of cranial pain to the wearer.
In recent times, Cobra has disguarded the use of MIND CONTROL HEADBANDS in favor of more traditional methods of bending people to their will.
