MEGALOPOLIS CITY is a vast metropolis that serves as the capital of Earth. MEGALOPOLIS CITY is home to Megalopolis Station, the final stop for the GALAXY EXPRESS 999 when it reaches Earth's solar system.
MEGALOPOLIS CITY actually has two faces, one is the gleaming futuristic wonderland most people know about, the other face is that of the cities lower depths which are inhabited by the poor and desperate. It was here where TETSURO made a living until fate brought him onboard GE999.
Following the destruction of PLANET MAETEL, MEGALOPOLIS CITY was reduced to rubble from all the fighting between humanity and the remnants of the Machine Empire. TETSURO became part of the city's freedom fighters. He left to board GE999 but promised he'd return. It is unknown if the city ever recovered following the final defeat of the Machine Empire.
(Note: MEGALOPOLIS CITY appears at the begining of the new GE999 manga and the movie ETERNAL FANTASY. In both it is destroyed when the sun goes nova.)
