KARL RIBER was the boyfriend of LISA HAYES. He was part of the military but hated being a soldier. He jumped at the chance to serve on Mars has part of the staff at SARA BASE. He promised LISA he would return for her.
Unfortuntely, KARL was among those killed when the base was attacked. LISA was devastated by his death. Years later, she visited the base and found his room. She had to leave after a few minutes because the base was about to be destroyed by a power overload. KARL'S room was destroyed by the explosion. LISA later saw similarities to KARL in LYNN KYLE.
(Note: An alternate universe version of KARL RIBER appears in a multipart storyline in the Antartic press ROBOTECH comic. He also makes a two second cameo in MACROSS: DYRL.)
