JAMES BURNS was the younger brother of NARA BURNS. While she went off to Exofleet, he stayed behind and helped his parents on their farm near the city of VESTA on the planet Venus. He was out on the fields working with his father the day the Neos invaded. Both his parents were killed and the farm was reduced to ruin. He buried his parents in the ruins of the farm house and went off to form a resistance group. The group was able to harass the Neos but was underarmed and suffering from food shortages.
A year into the war, JAMES ran into JT MARSH and two of his troops. JAMES took tehm prisoner and intended to swap them for food with the Neos. At the meeting place, NARA appeared and demanded he stop what he was doing. The arguement was made moot since the swap was actually a trap. JAMES made peace with MARSH and helped him captured PROFESSOR ALGERNON. In exchange, MARSH talked to his superiors and soon JAMES was given the needed food and supllies.
Several months later. JAMES attended the conferance of Resistance leaders held by ADMIRAL WINFIELD. A short time later, JAMES was captured by DRACONIS made part of the slave labor that was building DRACONIS a secret base. NARA and WOLF BRONSKI were also captured. The three of them managed to cause a revolt and hold out until help arrived.
JAMES hosted Able Squad during a longterm recon to prepare for the retaking of Venus. During the invasion,JAMES led an authorized attack on VESTA. He battled DRACONIS and was severly wounded. He was hospitalized for weeks under intensive care.
He finally recovered but needed a cybornetic arm,leg and eye. When NARA visited him, some old resistance buddies kidnapped MARSALLA. JAMES agreed to talk to them. His effort failed and he had to try to sneek MARSALLA out. They were discovered and at the same time, free Neos attacked. During the fight, tried to man an E-FRAME but it was damaged and he was severly wounded again. He fled and got MARSALLA to safety. He piloted the E-FRAME a few feet away till it finally collapsed. NARA found JAMES dead in the cockpit. NARA buried him next the their parents.
