The GRAF SHIELD is a force field that could crush anything from an E-FRAME to a large capital ship. It was put in place by PHAETON on Earth on Venus to prevent invasion by Exofleet. Despite this, a small group from Able Squd were able to infiltrate both Earth and Venus. They got the shield's inventor PROFESSOR ALEGERNON to defect. His first act was to use the GRAF SHILED against the Neo-Sapien Fleet in orbit over Venus. PHAETON ordered all GRAF SHIELDS to be deactivated.
ALEGERNON built a GRAF SHIELD to surround IO BASE. The shield overloaded trying to hold back a large attack fleet led by TYPHONUS. A short time later, some NEO-MEGAS fixed the Venusian GRAF SHIELD and turned the entire city of VESTA into its generator. The shield started to destroy attacking Exofleet ships until JONAS SIMBACCA realized the shield could not home in on cloaked ships.This allowed Exofleet to defeat the GRAF SHIELD and retake Venus.
After the war's end. ALEGERNON revealed that the GRAF SHIELD can bring life. He demonstrated this statement by using the technology to rebuild Mars. It is unknown if the GRAF SHIELD will be used again for this or any other purpose.
