SCARLETT was born in the state of Georgia. She was raised by her father along with three brothers. They taught her martial arts. She went on to join G.I.Joe. There she met DUKE and the two fell in love. Unfortunately, their duty prevents them from expressing their feelings too much.
During the MASS DEVICE incident, SCARLETT led the Joes while DUKE was a captive of Cobra. She led a mission to the Sea of ice that ended badly when she was forced to leave SNAKE-EYES behind. On another mission, she was captured by DESTRO. She teamed with the slave woman Selena and the two lead an unsuccessful revolt. Fortunately, they were rescued by the other Joes soon after.
SCARLETT led the Joes in defending Washington DC from the power of the WEATHER DOMINATOR. She also witnessed the battle that took place at the ISLAND OF NO RETURN. During the assault on Cobra Temple, she fought a brief battle with BARONESS. A year later, she was held captive along with several other Joes by Cobra when they took over the space station Delta.
SCARLETT used her ability to make disguises to try to get to a scientist that was using mind control on animals. Her ploy was discovered and she and the Joe Ripcord were nearly eaten by spiders before they were rescued by SNAKES-EYES and Spirit. She also used a disguise to flush out a Cobra safehouse in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. She also disguised herself as a rock fan when she and LADY JAYE and COVER GIRL infiltrated the Cobra rock group Cold Slither. (In reality, Cold Slither were really the DREADNOKS in disguise.)
SCARLETT'S family was brainwashed by Cobra along with the families of other Joes. She was forced to fight them to protect a truck carrying deadly explosive crystals. Fortunately, her family broke free of the brainwashing and have returned to Georgia.
SCARLETT took part in a mission to ferret out Cobra's involvement in a race for mayor. She also one of the organizers of the Joes' revolt against the clones of three top military generals. She figured out that DUKE was also replaced by a clone and witnessed the real one defeat his counterpart.
SCARLETT fought at the battle of the Staute of Liberty. She also was part of the BET testing team that was ambushed by Cobra. She was part of the ground forces that tried to protect the BET but failed. During that battle she was heartbroken to see DUKE rendered comatose by SERPENTOR. She was later captured with most of the Joes while trying to attack COBRA-LA. She was freed thanks to BIG LOB and in the battle she knocked out BARONESS.
(Note: SCARLETT is in love with SNAKE-EYES in the comics. She also joins the Ninja Force team. It is also revealed that she has a sister named Siobhan. Scarlett returns in the new GIJoe comics by Devils Due. Actress BJ Ward is a former Playboy Bunny and can be seen in the tv series ER in the epsidoe "Chaos Theory" playing a nurse .)
