Little is known about the past of FAUST. What is known is that he is father of TETSURO. It also known that he has encountered CAPTAIN HARLOCK at one point. The two see each other has honorable foes. Many of their battles have often featured the two drinking toasts to one another.
FAUST rose to become PROMETHIUM'S right-hand man. He ran into TETSURO and made him relive his mother's murder. TETSURO developed instant hatred for him. When they met again on FINAL ANDROMEDA, FAUST told the boy that he came in peace and did not want to fight. That soon changed and FAUST was ordered to kill him. FAUST shared one last drink with HARLOCK and then gave the pirate a locket telling him to keep it for him. FAUST had his last battle on top of the 999. Despite zero visibility, TETSURO was able to shoot FAUST straight in the chest. FAUST fell into the void, but not before telling TETSURO that he was his father. It is unknown what effect this will have on TETSURO. HARLOCK threw the locket into space to honor his old foe.
(Note: FAUST does not appear in the 999 manga. Actor John Novak does a guest appearance on the BABYLON 5 spinoff, CRUSADE.)
