| HI-FREAK CREATED BY: DR LUCIFER 1ST APPEARENCE: G.I.JOE; COBRA'S CREATURES (DESTROYED) HI-FREAK was a weapon invented by mad scientist DR LUCIFER that enabled him to control any form of animal life. The weapon worked by first blasting an animal with a ray gun that bathed them in blue light. DR LUCIFER could then guide their actions using a computer stored at his castle. He could which animal to control by pressing a buton with the coresponding image. There was no limit to the amount of animals he could control at one time. HI-FREAK could work on animals as basic as locusts to complex animals such as whales. LUCIFER used HI-FREAK to control the Joe dog JUNKYARD and set him after MUTT. At COBRA COMMANDER'S orders he also used HI-FREAK to make animals all over the world attack humanity. These attacks included whales surroundinh ships. wolves roaming the streets of Moscow, eagles attacking the Capital Building in Washington DC, and a locust swarm attacking WILD BILL and two SKYHAWKS. SCARLETT disguised herself as LUCIFER'S love DR ATTILA and tried to stop him. She was captured and LUCIFER used HI-FREAK to make tarantulas attack her and another captive Joe, RIPCORD. The Joes SNAKE-EYES and SPIRIT used their animals to infiltrate LUCIFER'S castle and free SCARLETT and RIPCORD. Meanwhile FLINT led a large team in attacking the castle. LUCIFER tried to use HI-FREAK to summon help but SCARLETT and the others burst in and destroyed the computer in hail of laser fire. All the animals under the machine's control were freed. LUCIFER went to prison. No other versions of HI-FREAK have been made. (Note: HI-FREQ has also been used as the name for the weapon. Both spellings are apparently acceptable.)
