| GOLIATH VOICE ACTOR: Keith David SPECIES: Scotish Gargoyle OCCUPATION: (former) defender of CASTLE WYVERN (current) protector of New York 1ST APPEARENCE: GARGOYLES: AWAKENINGS GOLIATH was born in Scotland in CASTLE WYVERN. He became leader of the Gargoyles living there after the previous leader (the Gargoyle who would be Hudson) lost sight in one eye. GOLIATH recieved his name thanks to a victory he scored against some giants. He loved a female Gargoyle he named his "angel of the night." GOLIATH had been trapped out of the castle when Vikings led by HAKON invaded and destroyed the Gargoyles. GOLIATH led the survivors in attacking the Vikings and freeing the castle's human population. When the MAGUS cursed the other Gargoyles by mistake, GOLIATH ordered him to place the same curse on him. The curse was lifted a thousand years later when DAVID XANATOS bought CASTLE wyvern and moved it to the top of the AERIE BUILDING. He convinced GOLIATH to help him against a rival company and has a show of good faith showed him that his love was still alive. GOLIATH and the others helped XANATOS. GOLIATH also befriended policewoman ELIZA MAZA. MAZA helped GOLIATH find out that XANATOS tricked GOLIATH. He also found that his love had named herself DEMONA and had developed a hatred for humanity. GOLIATH and his clan drove DEMONA off and ELIZA arrested XANATOS. GOLIATH and the others stayed at CASTLE WYVERN until XANATOS got out of jail and ELIZA convinced them to move to a clock tower over her precinct. GOLIATH soon decided to make New York the area his clan protected. He also started to fall in love with ELIZA although he never made his feelings known. GOLIATH had to team with XANATOS to help him free his girlfriend FOX from the curse of the EYE OF ODIN. He also attended XANATOS' wedding and was thurst back in time by DEMONA and the PHOENIX GATE. H e teamed with XANATOS a second time to stop DEMONA'S plot to kill every human in New York by turning them into stone and then smashing them. GOLIATH, ELIZA, and BRONX went to AVALON to battle the ARCHMAGE. There, he met ANGELA. After the ARCHMAGE was defeated, ANGELA accompanyed GOLIATH and the others out of AVALON. The quartet were soon sent on a trip around the world. During this time, GOLIATH found out ANGELA was his biological duaghter by DEMONA. He refused at first to give her special treatment, but soon started to warm up. The quartet returned to New York just in time to help XANATOS stop OBERON from taking his son away. Soon after, GOLIATH and the clan made peace with XANATOS after they stopped DEMONA from unleashing another plot to kill humanity. GOLIATH led his clan in dealing with the QUARRYMEN. During a crisis of faith, TITANIA showed him what it would have been like if he was not leader of the clan. He also endured a public trial at human hands. GOLIATH weathered all these ordeals and still leads his clan today. (Note: An unused idea for a spinoff would have revealed GOLIATH and ELIZA married and had children. Actor Keith David can also be heard as the Spawn on the HBO animated series. He also did voice work in Princess Mononoke and Fantastic Four.
