| ELIZA MAZA VOICE ACTOR: Salli Richardson RACE: Human OCCUPATION: detective in the NYPD 1ST APPEARENCE: GARGOYLES: AWAKENINGS ELIZA MAZA is the daughter of PETER & DIANE MAZA and the sister of BETH & DEREK MAZA. She graduated from the university with a bachelor's in Psycholoy and followed in her father's footsteps and became a cop in the NYPD. One night she investigated explosions that came from the AERIE BUILDING. The building's owner, DAVID XANATOS and his aide OWEN, told her it was an accident. Exploring on her own, she found GOLIATH and his Gargoyle clan. Startled, she fell off the building. GOLIATH saved her and the two became friends. She took on a tour of the city that interrupted by an attack. When GOLIATH was injured, she stayed by his side. She later found out XANATOS was tricking GOLIATH and exposed him. She then became the Gargoyles ally in their adventures in the modern-day world. ELIZA convinced the Gargoyles to move to the Clock Tower after XANATOS was released from prison. One night she was shot accidentally with her own gun by BROADWAY. She recovered but was forced to take on a patner named MATT BLUESTONE. She then tried to convince her brother not to work for XANATOS. He didn't believe her and was further upset when XANATOS told him about the Gargoyles and about how ELIZA already knew. ELIZA finally told BLUESTONE about the Gargoyles. DEREK was transformed into the Mutate TALON by XANATOS and believed GOLIATH had killed ANTON SEVARIUS, thus ruining his chance to return to normal. ELIZA swore to bring XANATOS down for this. ELIZA shared Halloween with GOLIATH. Also, she was transformed into a Gargoyle by PUCK. Both these incidents brought the feelings she and GOLIATH had for each other almost to the surface. She was later a victim of DEMONA'S plan to turn all humans in New York to stone. She was returned to normal thanks to an alliance between XANATOS and the Gargoyles. At one point, ELIZA was forced to rescue the Gargoyles from the clutches of DEMONA and MACBETH while she was exhausted from working a night shift. She managed to defeat DEMONA in hand to hand combat and she defeated both her and MACBETH with an assist from COLDSTONE. She and DEREK finally made peace after SEVARIUS was revealed to be alive and taking orders from XANATOS. ELIZA took part on the AVALON WORLD TOUR. She woke up ARTHUR from his sleep on AVALON. She also finally revealed her friendship with the Gargoyles to the rest of her family. On NEW OLYMPUS, she was captured and imprisoned but she managed to free herself and earn respect by stopping a plot by PROMETHEUS to blow the island. On Easter Island, her memory was mistakenly erased by NOKKAR and she could'nt remeber GOLIATH. She finally relied on her instincts and aided GOLIATH until her memory returned. On a return trip to AVALON, she helped TOM and KATHERINE make an iron bell to stop OBERON. Shortly after her return to New York, ELIZA was partnered up with a rookie named JASON CONOVER. She and JASON felt attracted to each other and even kissed but she felt her heart belonged to GOLIATH. she then discovered JASON was actually JASON CANMORE of the HUNTERS. During a fight between the Gargoyles and the HUNTERS, ELIZA and JASON fell down a waterfall. Both survived and tried to stop the feud between the HUNTERS and Gargoyles so they could DEMONA from destroying humanity. In the process, Jason was crippled, but DEMONA was stopped and ROBYN CANMORE agreed to surrender. ELIZA promised to help JASON recover. JOHN CANMORE called ELIZA a traitor to humanity and made her a target of the QUARRYMEN. Despite this, ELIZA stayed by the Gargoyles side. She mourned when she thought they were dead but soon rejoiced when they reappeared alive well.
