It is known that at an early age he started working for the Red Dragons, a syndicate based on Mars. He befriended and trained a young man named VICIOUS. VICIOUS betrayed him and SPIKE lost an eye in a shootout. he got it replaced with a cybernetic one. While recovering from injuries he fell in love with a woman named JULIA. He decided to leave the syndicate and asked JULIA to go with him. VICIOUS threatened JULIA and she never showed up at the meeting place. SPIKE left and traveled around till he befriended an ex-cop named JET BLACK. The two became bounty hunters and worked out of JET'S ship, the BEBOP. The two had moderate success but money was always tight. A third member to their crew as added when SPIKE recovered a data dog named EIN from a pte thief named ABDUL HAKIM. Soon after SPIKE ran afoul of a female con artist and gambler named FAY VALENTINE. Their first meeting ended with FAYE stealing money from SPIKE and running off. They reunited when both became involved in a scheme by TWINKLE MARIE MURDOC to release a virus that would transform humans into monkeys. FAYE joined the crew after that. She investigated a bounty posted for a man named MAO YENRAI. MAO had been a friend of SPIKE'S from his syndicate days. SPIKE figured correctly that MAO had been killed. FAYE was captured during her investigation and SPIKE went to rescue her at an abandoned church. This led to him meeting VICIOUS again. The two fought and both wounded each other in the shoulder. SPIKE was then thrown out a stained glass window. He survived the fall but sustained heavy inuries and was out cold for three days. Awhile later, SPIKE heard a rumor concerning JULIA and went to pursue it. The trail led to the moon CALLISTO where SPIKE found VICIOUS. He was shot by an old friend named LIN. The gun had fired a tranquilizer so SPIKE was only out for a few hours. He awoke and tracked VICIOUS down as the killer was fighting it out with GREN. SPIKE had a dogfight with VICIOUS but soon broke off to find GREN. He found him as he lay dying from wounds sustained in battle. He honored his last wish and sent him on his way back to TITAN. A short time later, SPIKE was sevrely wounded in battle with the assassin MAD PIERROT. He battled the assassin in a rematch despite not having fully healed. He won the battle but suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder. SPIKE"S final battle with VICIOUS came when he finally reunited with JULIA amdist the chaos of a coup attempt on the VAN by VICIOUS. SPIKE and JET were attacked and JET was shot in the leg. They were aided by LIN'S brother SHIN and thanks to FAYE, SPIKE found JULIA at the place they were supposed to meet years ago. They tried to run away but JULIA died in a shootout. SPIKE stormed the headquarters of the syndicate and fought his way to the top. He was already sevrely wounded by the time he found VICIOUS. The two fought a savage battle and in the end both wounded each other fatally. VICIOUS died first while SPIKE walked down the steps leading up to throne and met several syndicate members face to face. Whispering "bang" he then collapsed on the steps and died.
