| ARCADIA BUILT BY: TOCHIRO 1ST APPEARANCE: GALAXY EXPRESS 999 The ARCADIA was bult by TOCHIRO as a vessel for use by his best friend, HARLOCK. To go along with HARLOCK'S reputation as a space pirate, TOCHIRO added a flag with the skull & crossbones and also made modifications that allowed the ship to be steered by an antique wooden sailing ship wheel. The ship soon became the enduring symbol of HARLOCK'S legacy. One of the most infamous battles the ship took part in was against WOTAN. The ship also made a mysterious appearance centuries before its construction and destroyed the entire fleet of the cosmic villianess, MISTRESS PHOTON. In recent years, TOCHIRO fell ill and was dying. Just before he died, he made plans to transfer his spirit to the ARCADIA'S main engine so that he might continue traveling through the stars with his old friend in their ship. The process was completed with the help of TETSURO HOSHINO. HARLOCK repaid the debt by going to HEAVY MELDAR and aiding the boy on his quest. The ship also traveled to the home of the Machine Empire and engaged its forces in battle. Two years later, the Arcadia appeared at LA METAAL and fought off Machine forces trying to kill TETSURO while the boy was searching for signs of MAETEL. HARLOCK then piloted the ship to GREAT ANDROMEDA and with the help of the vessel QUEEN EMERALDAS, fought a devastating battle against the Machine Empire. When the space anomoly, SIREN THE WITCH appeared, TOCHIRO shut down the main engine and the ARCADIA had to evacuate the battlefield on auxillary power to avoid detection from the machine sucking anomoly. The ARCADIA continues to fly the spaceways. Legend has it that the ship and its captain will play a large role in events that will change the universe forever. (Note: The ARCADIA appears numerous times in the lastest ongoing story of the GALAXY EXPRESS 999. It also makes a crucial cameo in the oav ETERNAL FANTASY.)
