The Platypus was a little smaller than I had anticipated.  It was lying under some roots, and it came out every 45 seconds or so, went to the top of the water for 5 seconds, and then went back to under the roots. It did this several times, so I assume that, since it is a mammal, it was coming up for air.  It put on a small show and swam around his little habitat a few times for us gawkers in about the 15 minutes I was there.  I got a couple decent pictures of him hiding in his roots, and coming up for air.  After I had toured the aquarium, I went back to see the wonderful non-hoaxy Duck-Billed Platypus.  I saw the animals I had hoped to see in Australia, and I figured I would take another look at the most elusive of them all.
