Sister Edith is author of the book, �My Life in Spinach Green�, Life of a War-Torn Family. The N�meths It is a true story of a Hungarian family who undergoes much sufferings of war, poverty and homelessness, yet always surmount the difficulties. A Family who faces life struggles with courage and faith. A Family that manages to see the �beautiful� amid the greatest challenges of life. It is a prayerful remembering of five decades of struggle to win the �Pearl of Great Price� freedom, peace and joy. The following was excerpted from a detailed commentary in Magyar News, March 24, 2001 by Dr. Lengyel Alfonz. Dr. Lengyel is head of the National Federation of Hungarian Freedom Fighters - 1956 - Association - Americans Home: Sarasota, Florida. �The book, which I was unable to put down is written by Sr. Edith Nemeth. It mirrors the deepest feeling of humanity, of which she is writing the family history. It is about a teachers� family who lost everything during the war (W.W. 11) except their faith and their hope. Their life she described is the life of thousand of Hungarians�the struggle to rise above the torment and war difficulties and homelessness, which was their lot. Their faith in God and Christian principles helped them overcome all difficulties.� Brief History for Sr. M. Edith N�meth, SDR Sister Edith is Hungarian by birth. She belongs to The Sisters of the Divine Redeemer, founded in France - 1849. The Community belongs to the Hungarian Branch, coming from Sopron and Budapest to McKeesport, Pa., to St. Stephen�s Church in 1912, to help keep alive the Hungarian culture by teaching their Hungarian heritage, plays and faith. They are a Nursing and Teaching Community. Sister Edith is the director and instructor of Penn View Art Center in Elizabeth Township. She received her BFA and MFA degrees at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and her BSE degree at Medaille College in Buffalo, N.Y. She is a member of the Craftsmen�s Guild of Pittsburgh, American Craft Council, Fiber Arts Guild, Nature Print Society, McKeesport Art Group and the American-Hungarian Folklore Centrum. A native of Hungary, Sister Edith is able to balance the rich traditional ideas of the past with the challenging new outlook of our contemporary American art. She is working in the following media and shares her knowledge with others by offering classes at the art center in oriental painting, drawing, calligraphy, oil/water color painting, weaving, folk art embroidery, lace making and nature prints; workshops in paper making, embossing, silhouette paper cutting, book binding, bead weaving, Origami-Kirigami (Japanese paper folding/cutting) and Kumihimo (Japanese Braiding) and quilling.
