Misc. equipment (part II)
Ph monitor
Ph is one of the most important parameters that we need to take care. In order to keep an acurate record of the ph in my tank I have a Pinpoint PH monitor, a very useful device which is easily calibrated.
Closed loop
Because this is an SPS dominated tank, a strong current is needed to maintain all the SPSs healthy, I have one Little giant 4md pump connected to two 3/4" sea swirls facing to the back of the tank, these sea swirls make a 90 turn every 60 secs, they help to create a strong and random current and to eliminate dead spots.
In order to reduce friction and improve water flow, all the plumbing was made using 1" PVC and reducing it to 3/4 just at the inlet of the sea swirls. Also, I used 45 elbows because each 90 greately reduces the water flow.
These sea swirls are mounted using the acrylic mounting brackets because my tank has an "acrylic type" top.
This is the left Sea Swirl
