VIKINGS

        1. We need you to act as newspaper reporters and in doing so you are to produce a historical newspaper reflecting the Vikings. It must represent as much of the culture as possible. Use the Internet, textbook, resource books, encyclopedias or other source material. The procedure for this is to type your articles in Microsoft WORD, proofread them, and then import them into a newsletter template in Microsoft Publisher.  (Both Microsoft Word and Publisher are on ClassLink.) Once this is done, "print" your newspaper and you are done!

Hint: Type up your articles/information FIRST!!  Don't get caught up in the design of your newspaper until ALL the writing is down.

Criteria:
   1)   Use newspaper/newsletter format. (Page must be divided in columns and must be
neatly done, article by article.  As discussed, this can be done using Microsoft
         Publisher)
                               - Work must be free of mechanical errors and proofread
                               - Neatly attach comic strips and political cartoons
                               - pictures, maps, charts can all be imported into the template using
                                 Publisher

Required Elements:
    1)  A masthead-name, date, city of publication, and cost
    2)  Three articles summarizing events (social, political, economic ) that happened during
this time period. (Yes, articles can span the 1100 years of the Middle Ages.)
                                -  Each article should have a title
     3)  One "letter to the editor" stating your opinion about a major event taking place during
           this time
     4)  Two pictures or drawings about major events happening during this time period
     5)  One political cartoon
     6)  A small crossword puzzle
     7)  A map showing weather conditions in a given region. Be sure to include a weather
          forecast for a particular location.

I know you are aware that all agents are at risk when researching or digging up dirt on a group of people. You must be fore warned. The Vikings were a violent group of people. Please be careful on your mission.
