Keith Dale Wishmeyer, age 57, of Humeston, Iowa, the son of Gerald Eugene and Audree Eleanor (Halls) Wishmeyer, was born on December 4, 1944 in Chariton, Iowa. He died April 13, 2002 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa.
Keith was a farmer at heart. At an early age his mother carried him as she drove the team of horses in the fields. Later, when they got a Farmall B, he rode between his dad or brother's legs until he was big enough to reach the pedals himself. Keith was a dedicated, hard worker. He worked as a farm hand for Hubert Wilson from 1960 until 1972. During this time he also drove a livestock truck for Hubert, worked at the Corydon Lumberyard and began working at Central Tractor in Corydon. Keith graduated from Corydon High School in 1963. He later traveled throughout the south and southeastern part of the United States in his red 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 setting up stores for Central Tractor. In 1971 he began farming with Keiffer Garton where he farmed utill the present. He began driving a rock truck during this time for Dean Williams which he did for 18 years until he started his own ag-lime trucking business. Keith restored the 1957 Farmall 450, which he started farming with, to go on the WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride for the last three years with many area tractor friends.
In 1983, Keith met Suzanne Marie Gunzenhauser. On August 12, 1989 they were married at Osceola, Iowa. They resided in Humeston.
Keith loved the Iowa State Fair and worked as a security guard there for several years. Later, he enjoyed helping drive the fair shuttle busses for the Clearfield Lions. Keith and Suzanne camped at the fair for the last 12 years where they always had great times with friends.
Keith loved his dog, Shasta, who faithfully went everywhere with him in the lime truck, pickup or to the farm.
He liked his vehicles, visiting, joking with people, NASCAR racing, going to "coffee time" at the restaurant, collecting caps and snack breaks.
Keith was a member of Fidelity Lodge #228 A.F. & A.M., the Odd Fellows, the Humeston Fire Department, a charter member of the Humeston First Responders; where he served as president for ten years and the Chariton River Valley Antique Power Association. Keith was a blood donor, giving the largest amount in the Humeston area - 52 units over 38 years.
Preceeding him in death were his parents on September 28, 1993; and two brothers Larry Dean and Ralph Glen Wishmeyer.
Survivors include his wife Suzanne Wishmeyer of Humeston; beloved dog Shasta; brother Ed Wishmeyer and wife Eloise of El Paso, Texas; sister Cathy Suazo and husband Ven of Albuquerque, New Mexico; father-in-law David Gunzenhauser of Humeston; sister-in-law Janeane Hascall and husband John of Ames, Iowa; brother-in-law Erick Gunzenhauser of Humeston; nieces and nephews: Twyla and John Anderson, Jennifer and Dave Jany, Royce and Kristi Wishmeyer, David Wishmeyer, Vanesa and Chris Carter and David Hascall; and other family and many, many friends.
