Adam & Becky - The Final Stretch!

Hi Everyone!!!

Sorry that its been a while, but we haven't seen an internet cafe since Prague.

We left Prague last Wednesday, and it was a sad day for both of us. We both loved Prague so much, and already miss our friends there. (and the cheap food!)

We headed up to Dresden (East Germany) and stayed by a lake outside the city. We were both exhausted so we had a sauna onsite, and never made it into town. Next day we made it to Berlin which wasn't one of our favourite places. We stayed there 5 days, but only made it into the city once, when we did the obligitory Open Top Bus tour around the east and west parts of the city. We saw what little was left of the wall, and Becky even brought some back with her (official souvenier pieces attached to postcards).

Tuesday we stoped off at another lake near Hannover, and went for a nice cooling swim as it was scorching! Stayed there til this morning then did a mammoth drive (380km - 7 hours) through torrential rain - so hard that many cars were pulling onto the hard shoulder for saftey. Just as we got into the outskirts of Amsterdam (thats where we are!) the windscreen wiper packed up. We pulled over onto the hard shoulder, pushed it back into place, then drove off. 10 minutes later - same thing again! But we got to the campsite ok, and got ourselves into town pronto!

It's Becky's 1st time here, and all a little overwhelming at first but its a cool city. We can't wait to do the boat trip around the canals, and visit all the great markets etc...

Anyway, gotta go exploring, but we will be back Two weeks today and can't wait to catch up with you all in person. (Where possible).

Its a shame, but the fun's nearly over. Time for us to start planning our future....

Missing you all!

Adam & Becky - 5 days to go !

Hi everyone!

Well we survived Amsterdam, although its easy to spend money there - so many boat trips and other exciting things to do.

Left this morning after an hour and a half trying to get the starter motor working. Was way to muddy to push it, and after trying to get the campsite to let us call the recovery company ("yes, there is a public phone just outside which takes coins sir"...), I went back for said coinage, gave it one more try, and Hey Presto - she started.

So, now we are in the extremely interesting country of Belgium, Antwerp in fact. Of course its raining here as we get close to home. After our first Pizza Hut in 6 months, (and I'm sorry "V" but it was the best Pizza in 6 months including Italy!), we found the trendiest night spot in Antwerp... Cafe Boring, where a "Live Band" (two 80 year olds and a keyboard) played Julio Inglesias hits whilst 40somethings waltzed the evening away. We just about escaped with our sanity intact, but it was a close thing! I find myself humming something mindnumbing from their repertoire even now.

So tomorrow we may sample the delights of "THE WORLDS ONLY MINITURE CITY.... AN EDUCATION AND AN INSIGHT FOR TOURISTS!!" and then jump into the docks. Oh well, only Northern France to get through and then we'll be sleeping in a proper bed, watching telly, eating Chinese without getting food poisoning, and not having to walk 500 metres in the rain at 2am to have a pee!!!

Seriously though, we are still having fun, and no regrets.

See you soon

Adam & Becky
