Cyber-Reunion 2000

"Unang Subok"

The email that would sum it up.....

Dear Val,

I can't describe how happy I was to have been a part of the cybereunion.
When I was taking siesta, I couldn't sleep . . . I was trying to recollect
the fun-filled three hours where I was able to shed every inhibitions
(including my priestly dignity) and decided to be my old Torresian self.
Ang gulo pero ang ganda!  During siesta, I actually smiled and laughed all
by lonesome self while recalling the pandemonium on the net.

I appreciated Reuel's presence; I heard him say he was M3.  But to me, I
didn't matter at all because we are one big group already sans the
sectioning.  Never had my being a Cancer came to mind during the chat.  All
I know was that barriers were eliminated already.

I knew Edna and Jesie were ill-prepared for the chat.  I really appreciated
how they tried  hoping against all hopes that they could come and join.
Especially Edna.  "Hindi makapasok si Edna" was the common battle cry.  I'm
touched by how they moved heaven and earth just to be able to join us.

And Perlie . . . she had to go to the office in Makati just to to be with
us.  It was a big sacrifice on her part but coming from her, "hindi
nasayang ang pagpunta ko sa opisina." To think na may iniwan siyang anak sa
bahay.

Si Mon . . . talagang nagkainsomnia na nga pala.  He really has to attend
the August 19 meeting. Nice of Jollo to pop by from their honeymoon in Tagaytay.

The constant shift of discussion was mind-boggling:  from high school
flames (ex of whoever) to kung sino ang crush nino; to food; to slimming
techniques; to tae and utot with the occasional nagging of Rey na "let's
have a common topic."  But in as much as it was the initial cybersalvo,
everything that transpired was expected.  I just never thought that it
could really be a riot.  And to think that the wives were also enjoying and
making occasional "batok" during naughty revelations about their husbands.

We were young once more . . . it was like a free-for-all chat participated
in by teen-agers and high school students!

Beng did well during her short stint with us.  Fenchie was her old self:
firm and proper but naughty. I was particularly happy for Edgar who really
enjoyed the chat and never wanted to leave the chatroom.  Talagang sabik sa
mga long-lost batchmates.  And Edna's predicament as to whether she would
leave or not for the reason that her whole family were already in the van
for minutes waiting for her.  Riz and Celso manage to join the last 4 people
in the room.

Thanks Val and Reuel for facilitating the msn community.  I can't hardly
wait for the next chat . . .

Paring Erick

Global Nature of The Grand Chat

They came one by one...starting from North York, Ontario with Val and Rey at 10:00 p.m. EST.  Reuel (the founder of the community site) joined in from his home in Columbus, Ohio.  Then our avid chatters from the Philippines came... Mon (Mr. Amnesia) from the Cubao area followed by Paring Erick from his parish home in Tayuman, Tondo who at one time had Leah on his phone line while chatting.    Perlie (the first lady of the chatters) dialed-in from her office in Makati who also tele-conferenced Jesie & Edna while chatting.  Fenchie barged in from Vancouver, B.C. followed by Beng from the neighboring Richmond, B.C..  Our St. Louis, Missouri-based Edgar joined the pandemonium in the room.  Jollo dialed-in from his laptop from his honeymoon in Tagaytay.  Jessie and Edna was not contented with the tele-conference so they tried to join in themselves.  Jessie managed to get in right away and Edna, after a long wait from the group especially Edgar, finally got in.  Riz joined us from Los Angeles, California and managed to get the tail-end of the chat.  Paring Erick just gave his final blessings..."the chat has ended, let us go in peace," when Celso got in from Burnaby, B.C..  Val ended the long night at 1:44 in the morning, Toronto time.

It Was A Family Affair

The batchmates are not the only ones who enjoyed the chat.  We have their spouses watching over and some even doing the typing themselves.  Thanks to Connie, Chona, Tess, Monette, Lida and Rosauro for putting up with our craziness and frequent "intriga" on Ex-flings.  We have the E1 kids in the room, too.  Jesie's girl Kring-Kring literally sacrificed her growling tummy so Mom can join the chat.  Here is what Paring Erick has to say on Fenchie's courteous daughter, Mae: "I was also amazed by the courteousness and politeness of her daughter, Mae.  When she wrote about her "Nanay" and "Tatay" it touched me no end; indeed the best terms of endearment for parents. "

The AfterMath of Cyber Reunion 2000

"Euphoria" is the word used by Paring Erick.  Others expressed the same feeling.  Whatever it is that made us feel elated from the chat experience gave us the feeling of wanting more.  Most expressed the thought of having another one.  There was so much fun and love in the room that most can hardly wait to attend the August 19 meeting after the chat experience, even those who are in the US and Canada.
Most of us find ourselves smiling alone, from the thought of the conversation in the chatroom.  A feeling that will not just go away.   Here are some of the responses from the chatters:

It was really fun chatting with you all last Saturday, guys! My officemate who was here last Saturday was also smiling and laughing with me (though, hindi nya nakikita ang binabasa ko.  Nakikinig lang sya.)

I'm really looking forward to meeting you this coming August 19 (uwi na kayo!).   Like what I've said, Father Erick, I will render a song for you, kahit pigilan nyo ako, wala kayong magagawa.  Paduduguin ko ang mga tenga nyo!

Sana, madagdagan pa tayo next time.  Kaya lang, I could imagine, lalo sigurong magulo. Edna, I like you husband, supportive sya, ha?!

O sige, next time ulit.  Pls. keep in touch always.  I miss you all!

Brgds,

Perlie

Val - Wow, pare, it was a riot!  Ang gulo at ang saya.  Si Tess nga, who hardly knows anybody in the chatroom (para ring ako he-he-he) had a kick out of it.  Ang saya.  Nakakau-LOL.  What a blast.  Ang nakakainis lang talaga is that, as Paring Erick noticed, I have a severe case of amnesia.  That is why I can't wait for Aug. 19, 3:00 pm to meet Paring Erick and the rest of those who are still here sa ating lupang sinilangan.

Everybody is butting in and about anything!  Similar to yours and everybody else's reaction, I can't get it out of my mind.  Si Tess (my wife, that is) nga keeps on asking me kung bakit ako biglang ngumingiti.  Mas masaya sana kung we were actually together in one big place.  It would have been really masaya at magulo.

By then sana most of you na nag-abroad ay makauwi in 2003 for one big happy and riotous reunion.

Nakakainip tuloy.

Father -  I intend to bring 2 CD installers ng Edsamail for others who may not have an ISP but have a PC (and modem) for them to have a free e-mail account.  Once the software is installed, the CDs may be passed along to others para dumami pa ang makasama sa e-mail system ng THS batch '78, hindi nga lang pwedeng pang surf ito.  For that, you have to subscribe to an ISP.  Anyway see you on Aug. 19.

Well guys, hanggang dito na muna.  Hanggang sa muli.

Mon

Val-  I thank you and Ruel for making a great way of keeping in touch our
batchmates and classmates in such a wonderful and exciting experience of
talking/chatting with them accross the miles. I almost got tense when I'm
running out of time to get in the chat room, baka di ko na kayo maabutan,
but then thank God, He gave me  a chance to get in, coz I'm really looking
forward to it since it was announced that we can chat altogether in one.
Thank you also for the rest of our batchmates who stayed till morning and
got hungry just to welcome the late comers in the chat room, medyo nagka-
technical problems kami in the computer that's why I'm late to get in.
Habang nag-chat-chat na kayo, Perl called me for a three way conference with
Jessie so I can be updated what's going on habang inaayos ng husband ko ang
computer. By the way Val napaka-supportive and understanding din ng wife mo
sana huwag siyang bibitaw to support you, because you are one of very
important persons and our k!ey to the success of our forthcoming Homecoming on 2003
and to make our dream to see everybody after 25 years. Just like Father Erick despite his
very hectic schedule even during our first Mini reunion he rushed to Manila
from Laguna. And to the rest of our batchmates and classmates who
continually coordinating and cooperating God Bless and guide us all  and our
family on our way to 2003 Grand Reunion.

Always,

Ma. Edna Adriano Gilera

Haven't been back for 12 years now.  I do miss some of the chatters like Leah and Celso.  Can't wait to read the whole transcript.

It was nice to get in touch with Edgar, Edna, Perlie, Jess and Fr. Erick again.
I just miss you all so much.  Dumoble na ang pagkamiss ko.  I love you guys!!!
Let us always keep in touch.

"As our lives change, come whatever, we will still be FRIENDS FOREVER!!!

Ako pa rin,

Fenchie  (and daughter, Mae)

nice chat, although it was utterly chaos! anyway, i kindda expected that
with everybody sabik to "chat" with everyone for updates and memories... too
bad i can't stay too long para makabalita... pero for all its worth - tawa
ako ng tawa!

next time again! great work to you and ruel!

jollo

to my dear co-chatters,

we all have the same question in mind- kailan mauulit. sorry if i couldn't
stay till the final moment of our chat. talagang nanlilisik na ang mata ng
tiisin(kasi, even kring-kring was so excited reading your messages with me

kung diyan sa chat ang gulo natin, what more pag nagkitakita tayo. so,
LET'S ALL HAVE FUN!

till our next chat. pwede bang magrequest? wag nyo namang gawing

miss you all. hi beng! glad you still remember me!

lovelots,

jesie

val- sorry we were late in the chat.  can i ask a favor,
please send me the transcript of the chat. thanks.

riz

How can I not enjoy the chat?  It was fun to listen to all of you (although I must admit that I'm not sure who the others were, sorry!).  At least Edgar was frank enough to admit that he didn't know me and that's fair.  The important thing was that we were able to re-connect again...like old friends who've not had much chance to stay in-touch, we were all given the opportunity to relate to one another again.  Also, the spirit of belonging, unity, and friendship was strongly evident during the chat

Congratulations Reuel and Val for all your effort, committment, and zealousness.

More power to you!

Beng Evangelista

I was too late but still I am happy to be part of the chat.  I was not
able to talk to some of our schoolmates but still I was so excited and I
can't express my real feeling on being connected with the people I used to see in
THS and did not talk with that much during our school days, and yet here we are
communicating to each other giving the updates on ourselves.

My wife is really amazed of our contacts.  After more than 20 years we
are linked again to each other saying hello and hi.  I am so proud of telling
other people about this site.

I thank you Val and Ruel for creating this wonderful site.  Congratulations
because you deserve it.  You really did a good job.  I can't wait for the
next chat schedule.

May God bless you all.

Rey did not send an email but called me 7 times on the Monday morning, expressing the same excitement on the chat and discussed some of the funny moments in the chatroom.  Everytime we get an email addressed to the group, he would call to give his thoughts and response to the email.  And he requested to hold it on a Saturday in Toronto for the next chat, so that his wife Gretchen can join, too.
Hello chatters,

We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.  I took the family & relatives to Ontario Place from early in the morning to after midnight tonight....sleepy but happy and I just can't get the conversations in the chat out of my mind the whole day.  Thanks very much for those who participated.

I just want to add to Father's reflections below:  Jollo, thanks for droppin' in kahit na you were in the middle of your honeymoon.  Leah, thanks for trying to join through the phone with Paring Erick. Riz, better late then never but don't worry coz you'll get the script in the site.  Celso Galvez joined when Father has given the final blessing...."the chat has ended, go in peace." at around 1:30 a.m. EST.  What was scheduled for one hour lasted for 3 exciting hours.

Sorry for not having an agenda because the goal of the reunion on the internet is just to have fun and get acquainted again...and we accomplished that.  Next time we'll have one and we'll have some order in the room...although that's highly unlikely if we'll have the same group in the chatroom next time.

Reuel, thank you so much for this great community site that you started.  I'm sure that everyone feels the same way (grateful to your brain-child).

Val

nagkakaisa at masaya. Naibalik natin ang dating samahan at iyon ang
pinakamahalaga.

Salamat muli,

Reuel
