| Special
effects and prestigious director for the video of Adagio
! In a french tv show called "Exclusif" on monday, the hosts finally mentionned Lara's radio return in mid-october with Adagio, first single off her album now called Lara Fabian, and not Part of Me as we were led to believe for a short while. Recorded in Montreal and L.A., Adagio will be by a masterful video shot in California and directed by Franco Draggone (Cirque du Soleil) and boosted by special effects made by the same guy who did the special effects for the movie "The Matrix" !! All of this sounds quite unreal and very promising. After her meeting with the Sony Music representants in Montreal last week, this monday September 27th, Lara was in Los Angeles to present a showcase of some of her songs to the representants of the West Coast gathered for a convention. She will do the same thing before the East Coast representants on October 4th in New York. Adagio will hit the air-waves in mid-october, and the album will be out on December 1, 1999.

in Montreal Lara was invited for the inauguration of the Ex-Entris Complex, in Montreal, which is now the biggest virtual store in North America with 400,000 products.(http://www.archambault.ca). Lara, who had just arrived from London, made the first transaction in the store and bought a compact disc. She didn't made any declaration...but she talked to journalist and friend Eric "My English album is now completed, she said, and the big release is scheduled for december 1, in Quebec and will happen over a 5 months period. The international release will be braught to an end in spring 2000. I kick it off in Quebec, because thats's where my folks are and where I grew up as an artist. Then, there will be France, those who welcomed me, Canada, Europe, United States, Asia, Japan and Australia. The beauty of this project is the fact it will be done brick by brick, with a lot of hard work and simplicity most of all, because there's only one Lara..not 22 of them !" In the Quebec tv show Flash yesterday, Lara also
mentionned that on top of the album, there will be a
surprised for the fans on December 31, 1999 !!! The
singer left Montreal on thursday to LA, where she will
spend 2 days to shoot a video for the song Adagio. |

| An
eclectic album, filled with strong moments A mini-review of the album "Part Of Me" has been published in a Belgium article (10/09/99) called "Lara Fabianglais" : Here is a translated extract : "The album is an eclectic program made of certain pieces reminscent of the classical genre (Adagio), a few that are pop (Given up on you), as well as what has been called her English "Je suis malade": a song tittled Broken Vow which Lara has recorded "in real time live" with a NY philarmonique orchestra of 100 musiciansThe result has the refinement of a military march, but Lara Fabian has some of those golden pipes capable of rizalizing with Céline Dion, Barbra Streisand or Whitney Houston's beltings, at any given moment. This much is clear : This american-made album is quite a dazzling product, manifactured and gauged, as the marketing agents like them: risk-free and safe. This album is a sure smashing hit !...." | Lara's
English album to be a very "personal" one After Lara's declaration at "50 years of hits" TV show last friday, there seems to be more evidence coming forth that the album will in fact be released in january 2000. Lara's explanation to the host was that "Sony Music wants an international release, and there's something magical about a millenium release". Lara's representatives at Columbia NY wouldn't confirm
nor deny any dates until the end of the month, but they
said the buzz at Sony was very positive : |

thriumphs with Tout
at "50 ans de Tubes" TV special in France Lara
made quite an impression in the TF1 Tv special last
friday, when her song Tout got voted by the
viewers as third-most-liked hit of the last 50 years.
Lara was then asked to chose a singer for a clip
retrospective, and she chosed Elvis Presley because she
said : "my dad raised me with Elvis; and he's a
great singer and a handsome man". As her pick for
the song of the last 50 years, Lara chosed La langue
de chez nous ("Our mother's tongue") by
Yves Duteil, which has been a huge succes in Quebec where
the song struck a chord with French speaking majority. |

| The
first single from the upcoming album might not be Adagio Sources at Epic records, Paris are saying today that another song than Adagio is being considered as the first single off Lara's album this september. Although they wouldn't reveal the tittle of the possibles songs and whether the song were upbeat or ballads, they added : "we think another song than Adagio could be better for Lara...But, nothing has been decided yet , cuz we have to check Sony, NY before" As far as the release date is concerned, Epic Paris
said the album is indeed scheduled for late November 1999
for Europe, but that Sony NY still hesitate about a fall
release cause it's too risky considering the fierce
christmas competition. |

| A
rumoured duet between Lara and Boyzone member Stephen
Gately A lot of rumours have been circulating for a while that Lara will go back in the Studios in september to record some more material for her now finished English debut. Sources told us that Lara has been discussing for awhile the possibility of a duet with Stephen Gately, one of the leads of the hugely succesful group UK Bozone. Stephen Gately has been front news in England in june, when he granted an interview to Sun magazine to disclose his homosexuality. Fabian and Gately will reportedly record the song in a studio in Paris. The duet, if true, could mean instant succes for Lara in Europe & the middle east where Boyzone has aligned number one hits for a couple of years, including the Tim Rice/Andrew Lyod Webber composition No Matter What. |

and Patrick Fiori on the cover of Paris Match &
France Dimanche magazines Lara and her fiance Patrick Fiori have been interviewed by Paris Match (http://www.parismatch.com) while they were vacationning for 3 weeks in the Porto-Vecchio Island, Corse this june. The two took the time to enjoy the sun as well as sit down at the piano to write new songs for Patrick Fiori's next project. The photographs are splendid and quite similar in both publications, and both state the album "made in America" is scheduled for january 2000. On Europe 1 radio, a journalist who had the chance to talk to Lara in Corse said Sony's actual plan was an international release for April 2000 (at the very lattest). | The
album to be released in France & Canada first this
fall As of today, Sony is planning to
release Lara's new English album in Canada and France
only prior to Chrismas '99. They are looking at a release
date of November 99. Unfortunately, it is the release for the U.S. will not
be till March/April '99! This delay may be due to the
release of all other albums by other well known artists,
but it also compromise original plans for a major
international launching for Lara's debut. |

Nashville to write some material, and she seemed unsure
at the time as to whether the songs would make it to the
final cut. |

rocks the house at the World Music Awards !!!!
Lara gave the best performance ever of her French hit Je t'aime, and she got a stading ovation way before she could even finish the song. The whole thing was very emotional and you had the sense something very unreal was happening in that room. Lara got her award, and later posed for photographs and gave interviews. The show was a world-wide broadcast, but only a minute of Lara was shown as part of an international meddley. I was disturbed by Much Music Canada's choice to show the US version of the program, whereas Musique Plus Quebec rebroacasted the 3 hour show. I adressed a letter of complaint to Much Music, pointing the fact no airtime or interview was devoted to Lara, despite the fact she is a Canadian and a Juno recipient. This is the reply I got from Much : Thank you for your letter, we're sorry that we have missed such an obvious chance to show Canada the representatives of our bilingual culture. We will definately take notice of your complaint and remember it in the future. |

in French Magazine Allo In an article that reveals the behind-the-scenes of the making of the Lara's album, we learn that Sony's head Tommy Mottola is committed to promote Lara as the Diva of the next decade. Lara herself is very involved in writing the songs and has agreed to promote the album around the world over a period of 18 months where she will tour the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan for 3 months each. That should keep Lara busy until at least until the end of 2001 when she will next go for a world tour. (Source: Duchesse) |
