NEW YORK, Jun 9, 2000 (ENTERTAINMENT WIRE) --
Album Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard "Heatseekers"
Chart
With career sales of her albums and singles totaling more
than 7 million copies outside the U.S., international
superstar vocalist Lara Fabian is beginning to heat
things up on American shores. Her album, Lara Fabian,
comes with a money-back guarantee, the first in Columbia
Records 100-year history. If not satisfied with the
quality of the music on the album, consumers may send the
CD, the original receipt and a self-addressed stamped
envelope to Columbia Records for a full refund. Refund
requests must be post-marked no later than five days
after the date of purchase. Offer expires November 30,
2000.
Lara Fabian, her eagerly-awaited self-titled English-language
debut album shipped to stores on May 30 and "I Will
Love Again," the first single from the album, hit
the No. 1 slot on the Billboard Club Play chart (May 27,
2000). The single is receiving coast-to-coast airplay and
is experiencing simultaneous breakouts in multi-formats
including Top 40, Rhythm, and Adult Contemporary. Lara
Fabian debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers
Album chart (June 17, 2000).
After listening to Lara Fabian, Vanity Fair called Lara
"A sure bet for Pop Stardom!" while Glamour
magazine said "The passionate pop songs on this
album make the Belgium-born singer sound like the love
child of Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand."
The arrival of Lara Fabian has triggered an unprecedented
media launch with coverage including an appearance on the
"Outdoor Summer" series on "The Today Show"
(where she performed two songs, especially remarkable for
the fact that Lara was a virtual unknown in this country
when the show aired). She has also appeared on "The
View," CNN's "Showbiz Today," E!
Entertainment TV, "Access Hollywood," "Entertainment
Tonight," "Turner Entertainment Report,"
Fox News, Oxygen Network, CBS's "The Early Show,"
and "Entertainment Weekly -- The Daily Show,"
among others. She has recently lensed an appearance on
"Donnie & Marie" which is scheduled to air
July 21, 2000.
