When Luke and Darla tell the Master about their encounter with Buffy he realises she is a Slayer. They decide to use Jesse as bait.
Buffy realises the entrance to the vampires' lair is in the Crypt. There she meets the mysterious man again, and he tells her his name is Angel. Down in the tunnels Buffy is not happy to discover that Xander has followed her to help rescue his friend. They find Jesse chained up but as they try to escape they are shocked when he leads them into a trap and reveals himself to be a vampire. Buffy and Xander just manage to escape from the tunnels.
Giles has discovered that the Harvest will enable the Master to escape from his lair as he uses the 'Vessel' to gain strength. The group guess that the vampires will attack the Bronze where there will be plenty of victims for the Vessel to kill.
They break into the Bronze and Buffy discovers Luke is the Vessel. She fights him as the others help everyone in the Bronze to escape. Xander isn't able to kill Jesse but accidently stakes him when a girl runs into him. Darla escapes after Willow throws holy water in her face. When Buffy kills Luke the master's plan is foiled.
At school, Giles tells the gang that it isn't over......
