Tom's Rose Garden

Graham Thomas
(Austin, 1983)

This David Austin English Rose is the first true yellow English Rose. After enjoying another Austin rose, Heritage, I decided that my so-called Old Rose Garden could use another not so old rose. This was another of the roses that Jeremy Buckley so generously brought me when he and his wife, Kathy came and visited our Bed & Breakfast. There aren't that many yellows in the garden, so I welcomed the addition.. I've placed him in a corner to bookend some of the smaller growing roses along the walls. The plant should grow to 5-7 feet tall, and is supposed to have a strong tea-rose scent, but I've heard differing opinions on the fragrance.

Spring 1997

Three buds on this guy. I was figuring that I'd have to wait a couple of years before I saw a flower. Black spot is hitting this plant harder than any other except for Dr. Huey. Otherwise, only a little growth.from what it was when I got it.

You can see pictures and read more about this rose at Jeremy's Roses and at Yesterday's Rose.
