An old Chinese curse says, "May you live in interesting times,"  the idea being that times that make the history books are often hard on the people who have to live  through them.

But you and I live in a fascinating time, with technological and societal changes occurring daily.  We enjoy freedoms that other cultures and times never dreamed of.   In a war-ravaged world, we live in safety, prosperity, and joy.

This page is to share some of the fascinating activities, sights, and ideas that our family is blessed with,  here on the west coast of Florida.
Goofing off in the Hat Store in Vail last winter.  That's our daughter Wendy at the upper left, holding her son Logan.  Bill is grabbing Sean's ears.  I'm grinning at the back.

Being a travel and outdoor writer is the best job in the world. I get to visit wonderful outdoor places, and then rave about them in print.  Here is a page linking several of my past articles, now available on the Internet.

Windlasses Sailing club
Add up sun,  the sheltered blue waters off Dunedin, Florida, 127 women who love to sail, and what have you got?  WINDLASSES!

Every Thursday during the school year,  126 of us women launch our boats at the Dunedin Marina.  So what if our boats are tiny prams and Sunfish?  The course is rigorous, and the competition keen.
Safety Harbor Garden Club
What grows in Safety Harbor?  How do we get the plants in our yards to flourish?   You'd be surprized at the amount of expertise, tips, lessons, and interests that we swap -  not to mention the free plant exchange at each meeting, and the table full of home-made goodies, and the jokes, and  ......
Many wading birds live on the west coast of Florida.  Here in the tiny town of Safety Harbor, we're fortunate to have a thriving colony of 17 species of birds, living and breeding on two tiny islands in Alligator Lake. Here's a peek, with links to other birding sites.
