Summer Club
By Lamp

We here in Hufflepuff are really excited to participate in this years Summer Club.  Many people have been giving it props on the previous years, and we a psyched to try it out for ourselves.  Were already positive that its going to be a hit and that its going to rock as loud Camp Rock, so we can hardly wait to take part in the Summer Club.  Questions have been floating around the HCR about what the layout is going to look like, how they are going to present the information, how many points each activity is going to be worth, and perhaps the most importantwhat activities are going to be offered??!!  That question has been driving me insane for weeks!  I guess itll have to rid me of all my sanity, while we wait out these last few weeks until the grand opening of the Summer Club!

The Greatest Games!
By Julia Rose Antea

Hufflepuff has been racking their brains to try and remember all of their old games.  They have been very successful with that and now have a couple pages of really awesome games to play.  There is a common trait in the Games Section of Hufflepuff.  There is pretty much only one game that the rules are followed forSPAM.  Every other topic ends up as SPAM.  The Be Random Game is especially spammed.  Its the same story for Capitals, Keep Two, Toss One, and RoRU.  It has proved impossible to play the games how they were meant to be played, so we just embrace the spam!  BE THE SPAM!!!

School Supplies Shopping
By Desk

Shopping for school supplies is really important.  When prefects checker lockers at the beginning of the year, they make sure that the supplies needed for the classes you signed up for are in your locker.  A lot of people who signed up for classes last term didnt ever even get to take them, because they didnt get the necessary materials.  Diagon Alley is one of the best places to shop for school supplies.  It has so many stores in stock of the materials needed.
Creature of the Month: Yeti
By Maya Parker
(the Abominable Snowman, Bigfoot)

Native to Tibet, this tall (up to 15 feet) white-furred humanoid creature may be related to the troll (unlike giants, the yeti fears fire), but as it will attempt to attack and eat any human (or just about anything else, for that matter) that it meets, no witch or wizard has had an opportunity to study a living yeti at close range. Ironically, however, Tibet is one of the most persistent offenders of Clause 73 of the International Code of Wizarding Secrecy due to the number of yeti sightings by Muggles, to the point that a permanent International Task Force is stationed in Tibet to help control the situation.

Hufflepuff Pride
By Sofa

Hufflepuff has so much pride that we are sweating it into our designer sweatpants! :)  We are Hufflepuff and we are PROUD!  We have so much to really be proud of.  Our members are so nice and they will have you rolling on the ground laughing, within the first five minutes that you meet them.  Every single Hufflepuffer (hehe) is eager to help new students; heck, theyre eager to help old students too!  We welcome every person into our house with open arms and very ready to become great friends.  Hufflepuff is a major asset to PADs Hogwarts, and after reading this article I hope everybody realizes that.
Welcome Committee
By Floor

Hufflepuff has a brand new shiny welcome committee!  Everyone who has signed up to participate in the committee are itching for new students in need ofwellwelcoming!  So far the team consists of Kelsie McGonnagle, John Chang, Darby Queally, DJ Diggory, Emma-May, and Julia Rose Antea.  So far we havent decided exactly on all of the details, but we are absolutely going to do an amazing job!  Weve come up with lots of great ideas, and we are well on our way to a successful year!
Magical Item of the Month: Omnioculars
By Maya Parker

Look like brass binoculars, except that they are covered in all sorts of weird knobs and dials; they are occasionally sold at Quidditch matches, such as the Quidditch World Cup. They can be set to replay action, zoom, slow down play, and overlay magical words that provide commentary in purple letters.

Choosing Classes
By Table

Choosing classes is very serious business.  Only five classes can be chosen at a time, so you want to make sure that if youre planning to take many classes that you take the easiest first.  Otherwise, youd be stuck with the same five classes for the entire term.  What kind of challenge is that?  I cant stress enough how important materials for classes are.  So many students apply for classes, but are denied, because they dont have to materials that are required for the classes in their locker.  Classes will stick with you until End of Term, so choose carefully.
Huff Strategy
By Chair

Hufflepuff hasnt decided on an official strategy yet, but there are many things that add to their unspoken strategy.  One example is completing the Five Monthly Challenges every month.  Were going to try to have at least five people complete the challenges every month, that way well have a healthy income of 2,500 points.  I have also heard talk of submitting lots and lots of poems and stories to the Writing/Poetry Club.  Although there are many different strategies to choose from, articles are always a sure fire hit!
Hufflepuffs Goals
By Window

We have several goals here in the brilliant and very capable house of Hufflepuff.  One of them is that we are making a severe effort to perform the five monthly challenges every month.  A PM reminding each student to do so has been sent out and hopefully itll make a difference.  Also, by the time classes begin, we wish to have at least ten thousand posts in the HCR.  Were definitely doing well at achieving that goal.  We already halfway there and there are still nine weeks left to reach our goal.  Our last but not least goal is a certain amount of posts by the end of term.  Revealing this might not be the best idea, soIll let the curiosity eat you up inside!

Choosing Classes
By Kelsie Mcgonnagle

Choosing classes can always be stressful and difficult when it comes time for the school year to start, so the best advise I can give you is to have a game plan! Before the school year starts look at all the avalible classes and think about which ones you'd like to take. PAD's Hogwarts offers many classes for you take. They are as follow:

Potions, Paranormal Phenomenon, Muggle Studies, Spanish, German, Arithmancy, Defence Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, World Wonders, Charms, Transfiguration, Mythology, Creative Writing, History of Hogwarts, Wizarding Occupations, Astronomy, Astrology, Divination, and Magical Myths.

That's alot of classes to choose from! And remember to take into account your interests. If you don't like taking notes or writing then you wouldn't like History of Magic or Creative Writing. If you don't like dealing with anything dark then don't take Defence Against the Dark Arts or Paranormal Phenomenon. If you think stars are boring I'd recomend not taking Mythology, Astronomy, Astrology, or Divination. See where I'm going with this? Also you'd probably want to write down which ones you've chosen and what corridor they're on so you don't forget. Keep the paper close by and don't loose it! Have fun choosing classes this year!
I hope you enjoyed this issue of Transfiguration Today!  Be sure to read next month's issue!
